As part of our efforts for the professional development of our bartenders, we offer some 10 to 15 seminars a year from the different companies and products from our alcohol and tourism industries. Some of our seminars include Beer Master, Quality at Retail, Rum tasting @ Bacardi University, Rums Of Puerto Rico, and Scotch Whisky Masterclass.
Also, we bring the best national and international bartenders together at least twice a year for our bartending competitions, giving the chance to any bartender to show their skills and confections to all Puerto Rico while learning the tricks of the trade and getting the chance to win great prices.
In the same way, every year we select certain members of our association and take them for educational trips to distilleries and breweries from all over the world (with expenses paid). Past trips include visits to Mexico and Dominican Republic. In 2008, the selected members shown in the picture below visited the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
Their trip included visits to the Jose Cuervo, Herradura, Cazadores, Patron, and Juarez tequila distilleries, and Cuauhtemoc Moctezuma brewery, among other places.
