Introducing TUTS' 2009-2010 Season!
SEPTEMBER 8 - SEPTEMBER 20, 2009
The one that you want is back! GREASE, Time Magazine’s 2007 pick for “#1 musical of the year,” is rockin’ across the country in this new production direct from Broadway. “Bad boy” Danny and “the girl next door” Sandy fall in love all over again to the tune of your favorite songs: “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightnin’” and “We Go Together” as well as additional songs from the hit movie: “Grease,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You” and “You’re the One That I Want.”
SEPTEMBER 29 - OCTOBER 11, 2009
Among our “most wanted” last season, this MGM-style family classic returns to our line-up for the fall. Hop the trolley back to the turn-of-the-century for old-fashioned family fun and musical merriment (even for “The Boy Next Door”). You’ll be telling your loved ones “meet me” back home at TUTS…to enjoy such classic songs as “The Trolley Song”, “Skip to My Lou”, and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.
DECEMBER 8 - DECEMBER 20, 2009
After last season’s WHITE CHRISTMAS with “snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes,” this year TUTS presents another holiday gift from the wish list of your favorite things ... that classic show for all ages, THE SOUND OF MUSIC. The songs everyone loves, including “Lonely Goatherd,” “Do Re Mi,” and “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” form a score still a top-seller for nearly five decades. THE SOUND OF MUSIC will charm you once again just in time for the holiday season. Your “heart will be blessed”... and you’ll “sing once more!”
FEBRUARY 9 - FEBRUARY 21, 2010
The heat is on in SAIGON! One of the shows that our subscribers have asked for again and again, this modernized version of the classic love story MADAME BUTTERFLY has all the timeliness of a country at war--making the character’s choices and struggles newly relevant. With soaring songs like “The Last Night of the World” and roaring production numbers that show a different kind of “American Dream”, thrill with TUTS to this contemporary classic musical smash.
MARCH 9 - MARCH 21, 2010
Set on a tropical island during World War II, SOUTH PACIFIC tells the sweeping romantic story of two couples -- US Navy nurse Nellie Forbush & French plantation owner Emile de Becque and Navy Airman Joe Cable & a young local native girl Liat -- and how their happiness is threatened by the realities of the war and by their own prejudices. Considered by many the finest musical ever written, the score’s songs include such musical theater classics as “Some Enchanted Evening,” “Younger Than Springtime,” “Bali Ha’i,” “There is Nothin’ Like A Dame” and “A Wonderful Guy.”
APRIL 28 - MAY 9, 2010
Laura Ingalls Wilder’s inspirational stories take on a brand new frontier in an uplifting new musical! Melissa Gilbert, who played Laura for 10 years in the much loved television series, continues her legacy by starring as Ma. Families will continue to fall in love with these life affirming stories about the Ingalls’ struggles and triumphs through the celebration of the pioneering spirit and the core values on which this country was founded — a spirit that resonates within each of us today.
