-Steve Da M.L.B.-(Bio)The Year was 1985; Ronald Regan was president, crack cocaine had flooded the country, the first Blockbuster Video store opened in Dallas, Texas, and the Kansas City Royals won the World Series, but on October 6th at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS a star was born.
Steven A. Johnson Jr. A.K.A. “Steve Da M.L.B.†would soon be introduced to the “Rap Game†by his father Steven Johnson Sr. who was a part time D.J. but full time hustler on the streets of Eastside Lexington, KY where he and Steve Jr’s mother, Miakesha English are from.
Steve Da M.L.B. would soon grow to love and appreciate music and by the time he was in elementary school he began to participate in school talent shows dancing with his clothes on backwards just as the rap group “Kris Kross†had done in the early 90’s.
By 1996, Steve’s mother had moved him, his little sister, and younger brother to Kansas City, MO. There he began to learn and understand more about hip hop music and about the “underground†rap scene. By the time Steve was in 4th grade he picked up rapping as a hobby.
Four years later in the year 2000 as he was developing his style of rap and as it grew Steve named himself Steve “Da M.L.B.†which stands for the "Major League Boss''. “That’s when I really got serious about rapping. I came up with "Da M.L.B." because in "99" I used to play Idle Hour Baseball and I played M.L.B. "99" all the time on my PS (Play Station). I also was doing well as far as taking care of myself and going to work at age 14 buying all kinds of clothes, jewelry, cell phones, pagers, etc. so I started calling myself "Da Major League Boss". That’s how I came up with the nameâ€.
In 2003 Steve and his cousin Rene Cannon A.K.A. C.B. (Cannon Bombz) started a rap group called “The Goodfellaz†dropping a cd of 3 tracks in which they pushed (sold) at school when Steve moved back to Kentucky to live with his dad for 6 months. He would later return to K.C. soon after.
From There Steve “Da M.L.B.†would go on to perform at several more talent shows, develop various mix tapes, appear on other local artists projects, develop and manage a couple of artists also a group of his own. Steve is currently working on his 1st solo project, shopping for a major deal as well as establishing and running an independent underground label of his own called, “M.L.B. Recordsâ€.
With his swag, energy, attitude, potentiary aura, and his artistic view; Steve Da M.L.B. brings the “Total Package†to the table and with a major deal behind him, he is sure to become a “House Hold Nameâ€.
