I'm a long-suffering Cubs fan who is the editor-in-chief of a website dedicated to ending the 100-year-streak. Check it out:
JUST ONE BAD CENTURY
You'll find great stories about Cubs history, plus video and audio you won't find anywhere else. You know the old adage "Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it?" Well, at Just One Bad Century we're doing our best to help alert Cubs fans about Cubs history so that we can collectively avoid the doom of repeating history. We're also trying to eliminate bad karma from the Cubs world. Check out the website to see how we hope to accomplish this goal. At the very least we just want to create a place where Cubs fans can read about their favorite team. There are great stories, pictures, audio clips and videos. Here's an example of one of our videos...I'm also a humor writer, author and novelist. My satirical novel
$everance (ENC Press, 2007)
is now available at the link! It's about a multi-media company that aims to rid itself of a longtime radio personality by forcing him to quit, all in the name of avoiding a severance payout. Tom Zagorski became a popular Chicago radio personality because of his slightly skewed point of view. His motto is: as long as wrong is wronging right, right should wrong wrong until wrong rights right. Using passive aggressive warfare, Zagorski tries to irritate his bosses into firing him and eating his severance. $everance is a scathing satire about the personalities, finances, and politics of the consolidated mainstream broadcast media. If you want to know who and what really controls the media, check out the book. You may even have a laugh or two. Click on link below to hear more about this brand new novel, or watch the teaser video from YouTube.

My earlier book (co-written with John Swanson) is called
The Radio Producer's Handbook (Allworth Press, 2004)
It's a how-to-guide for producing a radio show, a subject I know well because I was a radio producer in Chicago for twenty years. Two of the shows I produced, The Steve Dahl & Garry Meier Show (1987-1991) and The John Records Landecker Show (1993-2003), have been honored by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for their contributions to the industry.
Other than my books, I also cover the media regularly on my blogs. I accumulate links to the latest stories about the media at my twice weekly blog
Media Notebook
In that role, I've become a media critic. This is my video postcard to the FCC...
If you are a Chicago radio fan, you'll enjoy my weekly interview with Chicago radio personalities.
