THE SEQUENCE

The truth is all we really need is love...

About Me

The Sequence is the epitome of new generation boy band rock. Hailing from Cypress, CA, members Jason Yata, Brandon Dennis, and Kevin Connor strive to perfect and refine the existing rock sound while attempting to infuse the classic 90's pop/rock motif...yet still be able to unleash the energy and presence seen in hardcore/metal bands. Bands nowadays have forgotten that people come to shows to be entertained...not stare up at people playing along with their cd. These boys feel for you, and will show you a time you'll never forget. After all, you payed for a good time, and that's exactly what you're gonna get.
The Sequence is: Jason Yata, Brandon Dennis, and Kevin Connor.
Album Review on ABSOLUTEPUNK.NET

Who?
You might remember The Sequence from a previous Self-Promotion Spotlight here on AP. And maybe you’ve been wondering if we can judge these bands with just a few Myspace songs and hyper posts from their respective friends and family. In the case of The Sequence, however, everything written about these guys is true.
How Is It?
Ambitious and dynamic, for starters. Simplify doesn’t sound like the everyday, no-name-band debut release. The emo/pop-punk throughout plays by the restricting rules of mainstream music without giving up its soul. Sure, there are expected, windows-down pop hits like “California” and “The Secrets No One Knows,” but there are also thoughtful and piano-laden ballads like “Whisper.” Just when The Sequence appears to be one-dimensional, another modern day campfire song comes through (“Fail With Open Arms”). Trust us, we aren’t pulling these bands out of a (flat-brimmed) hat. The Sequence hardly needed any of these nudges, and you would have heard about them regardless.

Unsigned Band Spotlight on ABSOLUTEPUNK.NET
by Anton Djamoos Staff member Lueda Alia, noted for her interest in indie and her blatant dislike of most pop-punk, was the one to choose this band...a pop-punk band. Why? She says, "I find that I can't listen to any pop-punk anymore, but I heard this album and didn't feel the urge to skip one track." Coming from a tough critic like her, that's about as high of praise as a band can get.
Their new album, Simplify, comes out August 28th, and the simplistic artwork can be found above. Having heard the album myself, I find it remarkable that a band that has been around as short a time as this band can sound as refined and seasoned as they do. Their music evokes such a feeling of summer with straight-up pop-punk songs like "Out Here in California" but then have other songs like "Long Distance" that sound more like a Something Corporate-influenced song than a The Starting Line track. And it's this simple variety within the genre that makes this band so listenable and just a joy to hear. It's accessible; it's fun. This is what pop-punk should sound like.
Tracklisting of Simplify.:
1. Entourage

4. Out Here In California
5. Fail With Open Arms

Sounds Like: 7.3.08 - Let me first start off by saying THANK YOU to everyone who have stuck with us through this extremely difficult time. It's been hard to keep pushing when so many things and people are constantly pulling us down, but with your continued messages and support, it's given us that extra edge we need to keep on keepin on, so thank you. Last night was our first tv spot on MTV's The Real World! They played "Eponine" towards the end of the show while Brittini was saying goodbye to her boyfriend. We didn't expect to get this much attention and feedback just from that little 20 second blip but we're SO thankful to all that have contacted us and made the effort to go out of their way to see who we are. That's so amazing and you have no idea how great that makes us feel...you're the very very best. It's great to know we have fans and friends we can count on. Anyway, if you missed the episode it replays like 3 times a day on MTV, I think it's called Mexi-Loco. We're gonna be recording a few old and new songs in the near future so get excited for a brand new Sequence!! Later days ya'll
4.14.08 - What up everyone! The search for a new singer starts today. We know that this recent split, though difficult, will work out for the best for us and we'll be stronger than ever. Our new album is out, our live performance is getting tighter and tighter, our friendships are growing, and we've just signed the papers to put our music on MTV...things are really rolling for us. We've gotten A LOT of inquiries about singers, some good...some not so good. But we'll be back in June to kick summer 08 off right with billions ans billions of shows with some freakin awesome bands! It's our year...let's take advantage of it! The Sequence, out!
