About Me

Glad for the chance to be narcissistic here! I am a very funny gal, if you like weird. I'm kind of hard to get to know because I'm by nature distrusting, cautious and a bit misanthropic. I guess it's a self defense mechanism, but I suspect I'm judgmental. For all the education I've received, I'm a bit of a flake sometimes. I blame it on being French. I like being quiet most of the time, but when I am in a very good mood I get quite loud. I have a huuuge laugh. I don't mind if people laugh at my guffaws. I have a grouchy boyfriend whom most people avoid. I love him like crazy. I'm really much easier to get along with than I just made myself sound, but these traits are the first things that popped into my head when I thought, "How do I describe myself?"

I'd like to meet:

Good fun happy people. :)

Music:

I don't listen to the radio much. I hate how the same 8 songs just get recycled, and so much on the airwaves is unnecessarily sexual, violent, and/or misogynistic. I don't want to get accustomed to hearing certain things, because then I'll start thinking them, and then I'll start saying them. I just don't think it's worth it. I do listen to Nickel Creek, Guster, Push Stars, Great Big Sea and Weird Al, so it's not like I don't own any cds. I'm also a piano major so I'm fairly well versed in Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern period music.

Movies:

Ooh, a topic that I love. These are all movies that I would stop to watch on dvd or tv anytime (in absolutely no particular order): LOTR, Gladiator, Moulin Rouge, Brokedown Palace, Love Actually, Hard Candy, Pan's Labyrinth, House of Flying Daggers, Memoirs of a Geisha, Narnia, Back To the Future, A Beautiful Mind, Mean Girls, 10 Things I Hate About You, Rat Race, Shrek 1, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Better Off Dead, Young Frankenstein, Princess Bride, Mars Attacks!, V For Vendetta, Ever After, Never Been Kissed, Wedding Singer, Waterboy, What Lies Beneath, Little Voice, Dodgeball, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 300, Kill Bill, The Island, Knocked Up, 40 Year Old Virgin, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Best In Show, Legally Blonde, Sweet Home Alabama, Muppets (before the 90's), Dreamgirls, Little Women, Beetlejuice, Spirited Away, Pirates of the Caribbean 1-3, Sling Blade, Life of David Gale,

Television:

I regularly watch SNL and House. I try to catch Simpsons, Family Guy and American Dad when I can. Other shows I have watched and loved (again, no order whatsoever): Dead Like Me, STNG and Voyager, Futurama, Robot Chicken, Venture Brothers, InuYasha, FMA, Arrested Development, MASH, All In the Family, Taxi, The Office (UK), Threshold, Earth 2, Lone Gunmen, Two and A Half Men, Freaks and Geeks, Jim Henson's The Storyteller, Invader Zim, Mighty Mouse, Animaniacs, Freakazoid!, Gargoyles, The Critic, Murphy Brown, Frasier, 30 Rock, 10 Years Younger, What Not To Wear, 3rd Rock From the Sun, The Muppets,

Books:

The Kite Runner, The Bookseller of Kabul, The Good Earth, Memoirs of a Geisha, Life of Pi, The Red Tent, Jane Eyre, Memoirs of Cleopatra, The Other Boleyn Girl, Mary Called Magdalene, The Five Love Languages, Chronicles of Narnia, Clan of the Cave Bear series, His Dark Materials trilogy, Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy series, Fat Bald Jeff, Me Talk Pretty One Day, I Love Everybody (And Other Atrocious Lies), Lord of the Flies, Joshua, Mere Christianity, Screwtape Letters, The Great Divorce, Wrinkle in Time series, Lord of the Rings... oh, there are so many I can't remember

Heroes:

I don't have a specific hero. But I know what characteristics I think my own sort of hero should have: Compassion for others; humility of self; giving of time and affection; honest and forthright, both with others and himself; charitable; eager to learn; open to the future; wise to the truth of the matter; God-fearing.Only a hero could be all of that.

Last night I dreamt that Jeff and I moved to a more rural area. (an actual desire of ours, actually) The neighborhood was heavily wooded, and we lived on top of a rather large hill. The streets were c...

This blog is several weeks late, but my point still stands. I saw a toilet paper commercial recently that boasted of its durability and strength. To illustrate its point, it did a side-by-side screen ...

Lord of the Flies Part 2 - Electric Boogaloo

Oh dear god... Imagine you have just moved into a house of your own. It's small, but it's adequate for you, your spouse and a kid. You haven't yet bought a trash can for your house, other than the one...

I’m jus sayin’....

Right now the temperature here is in the SIXTIES. All I have to say is that this weather is making me want to write a pornographic poem to autumn. I really love this.
