About Me

It undoubtedly somewhat tiresome to try to encapsulate my entire being in this small space so that the casual observer can find out exactly who I am at a glance.
What is the "About Me" section really about? The answer seems obvious but it really isn't. Myspace is about friends and networking, and your "About Me" section should be written with your friends in mind. Your friends know you and they know your past, so it would be pointless to fill the "About Me" section with your history. You have to make sure you are telling the people who view your page something that they may not know, and want to know about you.
For example, I used to have a very long story here, which started around the time of my birth and included every significant event in my life that had occurred up until the day I wrote it down. It was tedious to write and, I can only imagine, tedious to read. All of my friends already knew all of that stuff about me anyways. I was quite happy with the complete autobiography, for quite some time, but I became tired of updating it. I didn't just delete it though. I have it saved in case I change my mind. I don't want to do all of that work again.
I also find it pointless to use the "About Me" section to talk about my hopes and dreams and plans for the future. My life is constantly changing! It's risky to talk about your plans because they often end up not coming to fruition and later you have the awkward comments on your page from a friend asking you about something you feel a complete failure for not having achieved. It's best to just ignore your hopes and dreams when it comes to "About Me."
My last attempt to solve the "About Me" dilemma resulted in something like Powerpoint presentation bullets informing readers of my current status. The present is no good as "About Me" material either. Once again, constantly changing and not very interesting to read due to the lack of substance. Minimalism, which I find quite attractive in art and architecture, definitely does not work well in the "About Me" section.
Consequently, I have decided to leave it blank. MyGen Profile Generator

My Interests

I've recently had to revise my listed interests because I've found myself to be interested in less lately, possibly at the expense of making me seem less interesting. So my new list of interests are as follows:

1. Motorcycles - I ride a 1983 Honda GL650. It leaks oil like a sieve and it's ugly as sin. Why do I ride it? Because it's totally amazing. Life on two wheels is like nothing else.

2. Photography - Last year I bought a Canon 400D. It was an amazing purchase. I wish I had more time to bum around and take photos. This summer I hope to fix the oil leak on my bike and then combine these two interests . If it happens I will post the results. P.S. If you buy a fancy camera, be prepared to want really expensive lenses really badly. The one I drool over constantly is almost three times as expensive as the camera. I love photography but I find it has made me quite anal about how pictures are taken. There is a right way to do it. No I'm not a know-it-all jerk.

3. Snowboarding - It is almost as much fun as riding motorcycles but you crash a lot more and you get tired quick.

4. Film - My favorite movies in all the world are mostly independent and foreign films. I would say all but Star Wars and some of the old classics are on the list and definitely Hollywood. Do classics even count? Movies were different back then! I'm making the rule old movies did not come from Hollywood. Did I just alter reality through force of will? I think I did. Thank you, Immanuel Kant.

5. Reading - Nothing is more relaxing. I love good books. By "good" I don't mean literature good. I'm a big fan of sci-fi, especially military sci-fi, and fantasy. Now you know. I am a full-blown nerd. My favorites seem to be with the books with scantily clad females holding futuristic weaponry. Folks, stop laughing for a second and allow me to clue you in on something you may not know. In the future, all of the chicks will be totally hot and latex body suits will be all anyone wears. Except for the guys of course, we get powered armor.

6. Writing - I love to write. I've been published as a poet three times and I'm very proud of it, bot hopefully not overly proud. You can check it out in my blog if you'd like. I won't cry if you don't. I also enjoy writing fiction. I am thinking of trying to get some of that published as well.

I'd like to meet:

Ghandi, Hitler, Einstein, Stalin, Churchill, Da Vinci, Ceasar......pretty much anyone who is widely known by their last name.

ALSO:

Rudyard Kipling.

Noam Chomsky.

Bill Murray.

Alfred Hitchcock.

David Sedaris.

Terry Brooks.

A holocaust survivor.

Osama Bin Laden.(I mean, honestly, that would probably be a pretty interesting conversation. As long as I could do it without getting my head cut off. I would turn him in right after we hung out though. What is the reward up to? $25 Million?)

Terrence Malick.

Saul Williams. (check)

Taylor Mali.

NOTE: I read a lot but I tend to stay away from anything that could be considered a classic. It doesn't mean, however, that I've never read anything by Dickens or Dostoevsky. I'm ashamed to admit it but those books tend to bore me. There are a few exceptions. Books are an escape for me and I would rather read something about goo monsters from planet x than something about how some chick in colonial america had trouble finding a husband.

Heroes:

Heroes? Maya Angelou, Jamie Fitzgerald, Saul Williams.
