*i am an OFFICIAL Strong Island DJ*
but still... keep it official!!!!! or are u just a microwave dj??? ask urself and realize......
Microwave DJ: mahy-kroh-weyv dee jay (noun)
Someone who attempts to take up the job or profession of playing music professionally (ie. performing the job of a DJ) by shortcutting the typical skills learning phase by relying on hardware or software to handle the actual skills of the job. Hence the 'rapid creation' of a DJ with no actual skills but appears to be a DJ to those that don't know any beter.
How to identify a microwave DJ:
1. Someone who sells themself as a DJ but can't use tabletop CD players, turntables, or rack mount cd players to actually DJ for any decent length of time.
2. Someone who sells themself as a DJ but can't mix in any reasonable fashion - including, but not limited to beat matching, or slam mixing.
Software shouldn't make DJing **easier** (visuals, or auto BPM, or whatever those other makers do) ... it should ONLY make carrying records easier...

"With Rane's Serato, there's a lot of microwave DJ's out there with MP3's. But Serato is, to me, something you have to earn. I'm like "have you dug in the crates? Do you have at least 2,000 records? Did you ever have to carry all your speakers and crates to a gig?" If you have, then you can graduate to Serato. Here's your medal. - DJ Premier" - DJ Premier on Scratch Magazine
"TRUE LIVES OF A DJ"...............
*Our lives are spent built around music.
*Our day starts when everyone else's finishes.
*We've stood outside with flyers just to one day get on or heard
*We've lugged our equipment over grass just to DJ our best friend's house party.
*We've been at the station until 4am, than back again at 7am.
*We've had to chase down a promoter to get paid. (belissimo.. neo.. what's happened??)
*We've spent hours in the studio, trying to perfect our mixtape, than went back in again for changes. Played it for another DJ, than went back in a third time to make changes.
*We've been left by our ((girl))friends at the record store who didn't want to wait as we sat at the bins looking for the perfect sample or equipment.
*We've been asked to play a song that we just played...than asked to play it again... (stupid drunk bitch!)
*We've searched for weeks for the graphic designer we paid who disappeared when we needed our artwork.
*No matter what crew, what city or what artists we are working with... We ONLY connect with those that share our passion...
