I'm a Hungarian from Romania , born and raised in Transylvania , up to my ears in folk art , have no Art degree but had an exceptional teacher , an artist who dedicated his entire life to salvage and revive Transylvanian folk art , someone who taught his students to value their cultural heritage because without it their present would be meager and their future uncertain , and also that self-expression is an innate need of every one of us , something we should not be afraid to explore. No matter how we chose to tell our tales : put it in words , sing or dance it , carve it in wood or shape it in clay , sew , weave, paint or draw - what's really important is to keep creativity alive , keep "talking" even if we may stammer , in hopes that every once in a while , someone among us might prove to be gifted enough to elevate mere craftsmanship to art that will have a positive impact on the world we live in .
