SLAD

Slad, aka soundlikeadog is an italian electronic music producer, born in Genoa, in the year 1977.
He began making electronic music in the 90's. From a very young age he has been a big fan of experimental and noisy sounds. When Christian was around 14 he started to play bass and drums.
Though he loved music, he could never see himself as a musician, dj or composer.
He developed the concept of including any and all sounds into the musical vocabulary.
At first he concentrated on working with sounds other than those produced by traditional musical instruments, removing them from their original context.
Later on, he found it was possible to remove the familiarity of musical instrument sounds and abstract them further by various techniques.
In 1999 he started that first independent netlabel in Genoa for his own enjoyment, the “santopalatomusicresearchâ€.
Christian takes much of his inspiration from every musical genres, from easy ambient to erosive grind-core. Beyond using the usual tecniques (he starts to perform his first electronic works with synths and sequencers likeroland MC505 and mc909 samplers later), he use different experimental compositing techniques, like microsampling and real-time sinthesys.
He also take inspirations and ideas from early futuristic experimentation and Musique concrète, and abstract them into electrical/musical compositions.
After 2003, he create different new musical platform/interfaces such as “Waxâ€, and strange musical interfaces for intensive real-time audio-visual experience (“15 stonesâ€, “AVStormâ€, “re-inventing the wheelâ€, “don't touch the airâ€).
