The Madd Gammah
Written by Alexis Jones
Often times after reaching what many consider success, industry bosses stop opening doors for new talent missing out on the next rap sensation. For an artist like Madd Gammah that has experienced a certain degree of success and stands up behind his music, sometimes knocking just doesn’t seem to be enough. Madd Gammah has a certain determination and persistency that if one would just look behind door number one they would become witness to his undeniable talent. Madd Gammah has been on a constant grind in order to make it to the top. His versatile range is unparallel to anything mediocre.
While everyone has gone through hard times Madd Gammah looks back on his past with pride. Things were never easy growing up but Madd Gammah took the best of the worst and facilitated his future with it. Born Fredrick Clayton of Jackson Mississippi, Madd Gammah had dreams of becoming a basketball star. Struggling through the worst part of Jackson with four siblings and a single mother his avenues were narrow and dreams were meek, however, Fredderick knew that it was up to him to beat the block down and become a visionary for a greater future.
Jr. High would be the beginning of new dreams for young Fredrick. At 13 Fredrick and school mate Mario had rap sessions after class about spitting game to the ladies and shooting ball in the park. Soon enough high school emerged and Fredrick started writing rhymes preparing to take the rap sessions to a new level. Fredrick’s rhymes told epics of drug deals he watched going down and bullets that he had dodged shocking all who heard him. Out of disbelief people doubted that he was the mastermind behind these true to life tales. After saving up some cash to begin recording their own music Fredrick and Mario found a manager and decided to bring in two other guys to form a group. The group was dubbed the 601 Playaz and it was at this time that Fredrick made his transformation from ordinary boy into the Madd Gammah.
Even though the 601 Playaz were young, they were hungry and motivated enough to start going to conferences and finding investors to support their movement. Eventually they had enough money, demand, and knowledge to start professionally recording albums. Their Mississippi sound was so unique and heart felt that the group gained the attention of rap star Juvenile. Juvenile saw in the group the same determination, commitment, and talent that stars are made of and brought the group on for shows throughout their region. The relationship between 601 Playaz and Juvenile gained wide spread attention and opened several doors for the group. Though the 601 Playaz was receiving great press, time was having its effects on everyone. Tension and disagreements within the group and management negatively affected everyone costing the group an opportunity with Atlantic Records and eventually led to the young men growing apart. Madd Gammah knew the group had generated a substantial buzz and wanted to stick with the act as a testament to his loyalty however the situation dissipated to the point that he had no other choice but to pursue a solo career.
Without the financial support of his former group’s investors Madd Gammah did what he had to do to keep his own music in the streets. He and his twin brother started working to afford their own studio to record in all the while continuously putting music out and performing in local shows. Four years later Madd Gammah’s new project is appropriately named A New Beginning, a corruption of Madd Gammah’s unique style and delivery. His tales of industry hardships and street life unfold in the tracks on this album. A New Beginning is an exhibition of undeniable talent and is a true representation of the untamed and untouched artistry that Madd Gammah possesses.
In a generation of flossers it is hard to get the industry to pay attention to artists who rap about more than fly rides sitting on big rims. Madd Gammah is constantly making music that anyone living the street life and everyone trying to make it can relate to. Everything that Madd Gammah has been through has groomed him for the industry walk. Madd Gammah is focused, hungry, and determined to get his music and life story to the people in masses. Confident that he is the next rap sensation, Madd Gammah waits patiently behind door number one.TAY DIZM - "BEAM ME UP"***CLICK THE COVER FOR FREE DOWNLOAD***
