The Paintsville Independent Band, under the direction of Andy Milner, performs regularly throughout the entire school year. It is the directors goal to provide quality musical instruction that is affordable so that ALL STUDENTS CAN PARTICIPATE. Students perform at school concerts, the majority of all home athletic events, contests, and solo and ensemble festivals. The program develops leadership skills and overall musicianship. All band students study music theory and are expected to learn instruments used in the concert band. These students also have the opportunity to perform in the Paintsville Rock Band. In addition to the school program, many of our talented musicians study privately and perform in other groups outside of the school day. In the past three years our members have performed with the Eastern Kentucky Honors Band and have received many distinguished ratings at Solo and Ensemble festival.
