But before I do....
It only has 4 XLR inputs but i can use the 4 XLR's in my mixer for the drums then run those to the DI for recording correct?
Other than that, I will still be able to get the two separate mix's (1 with click and 1 with out - to be recorded and played through PA) with this DI correct?
I can also run Protools and Ableton together right? Since this is M-Audio and not Digidesign.???-
Answer:
... A Digital/Audio Interface, or 'Digital I/O'; Not
to be mistaken with a 'DI', which of course is more
commonly referring to the Direct Instrument Box, or
sometimes 'Direct Box' (attenuates a small electrical
current of 1.2 Volts, down to a mere 1/1000th of a
volt, Respectively).
ProTools, Ableton, and Propellerheads' Reason
communicate using Proprietary Software referred to as
'Rewire.' Provided DigiDesigns' ProTools is set up as
the Master Clock Source; Abletons' Live and Reason
can be synchronized or "clocked" (Word clock should
not be confused with time code).....ync'd via
Rewire as the Slave. It's important to Note that any
Compatible Audio Software which supports Rewire can
also be simultaneously ran as a slave in conjunction
with Avids' Hit
Hardware Company; Digidesign with their
Monopoly Style ProTools Software. Another small point, Ableton does not have a track limit count, provided it is Rewired into Pro Tools LE, or M-Powered Software. Add it the list of $10,000 workarounds. Pro Tools M-Powered (M of Course Referring to the in '"M"-Audio') software marks the beginning of a new era of compatibility between M-Audio and the world of Pro Tools (Version 7.4, Featuring Elastic Time).
Here's how I'd set up the Channel Path Provided the gear at your disposal:
1) Multiple Transducers Mixer Sum via L/R Stereo
Out (Or Using Direct Outs) To Line Inputs 5-8 of
M-Audio Digital I/O.
...And Finally: Emphasis of Software Compatibility
As of August 13th, 2004 Avid Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:
AVID) entered into a definitive agreement to acquire
Midiman, Inc., doing business as 'M-Audio' – a leading
provider of digital audio and MIDI solutions for
electronic musicians and audio professionals.
I'm sure you are probably asking yourself, 'Who is
Avid'? Wow, That's a Great Question....Avid (if your
familiar) is the Parent Company of DigiDesign - The
Developer of ProTools. Other Avid subsidiaries include
the Highly Successful Softimage Co., with their
flagship product, SOFTIMAGE|XSI.
