PELICANPALOOZA 2008 is the 6th anual benefit concert to raise funds for Camp Pelican. Camp Pelican is a free week-long camp held in June every year for children with pulmonary disorders (Cystic Fibrosis, asthma, trach, and ventilator dependent). They are the only camp that will take a child on a ventilator without a caregiver because they have enough of their own medical staff (doctors, nurses, nursing students, respiratory therapists, and respiratory therapy students). Everyone involved with the camp does so on a volunteer basis. Pelicanpalooza is the largest fundraiser for Camp Pelican. Without Pelicanpalooza, the camp would not be able to do as much for these children. Check out the camp's web site at CampPelican.org.
This years' Pelicanpalooza will be held at Southport Hall on Sunday, August 17th, starting at 1:00PM, doors open at noon. Admission is $15.00 per person. Children under 12 get in free. There will be a raffle for a cruise for two through VIP Cruises. Tickets for the raffle are $5.00 each, and there will also be silent auction boards with many cool items up for bidn (ex. limited edition New Orleans Saints Electric Guitar). All proceeds go to Camp Pelican. Currently the bands involved include 5 Finger Discount, Bag of Donuts, Weathered, No Idea, the Wiseguys and Flashback. Rockin'Dopsie Jr. will also be there. New bands are joining everyday so stay tuned to hear the latest bands that have been added.Also, special appeances by the New Orleans Hornets Honeybees, Hugo and the Bookmobile!! Boudreaux from the Zephyrs will be there also!
