Holzplatten

The label Holzplatten was founded by Dj Brixton in April 1994, and since then it has been exclusively concerned with electronic club music. In the early years the label Holzplatten released mainly classic Acid-Techno, however, in the following years the music range broadened and became more modern. Simply constructed Techno made its way to the ears of the listener via Holzplatten. Holzplatten is the mother-label of Pornostarmusic.com and offers a platform not only to international stars, but also artists from the German speaking regions. Moreover, newcomers like Andreas Kremer and B.Bommersheim built up their careers with Holzplatten and in time developed into sort after DJ s and producers. The releases on the label are just as manifold as the artists, who range from Freddie Fresh to Jay Denham. After nine successful years in the field of Techno, the 70th album will be released during the summer of 2003.Finding a name:The idea for the name Holzplatten was provided by a saying back in the day. The idiom "Das ist ein Brett" ( roughly translated as: That's a tune! ) was used in the scene to describe tracks that not only made the heart beat, but also made the club rock. A 'Brett' ( a plank of wood ) is made out of wood ( 'Holz' ). The word 'Platten' meaning disk, which comes from 'Schall-platten' ( record ) was added to 'Holz'.
