I'd be lost without those pool gods.

About Me

I an Austinite, by default, since I have lived here for just about 1/2 of my life. I enjoy the "light" side of life, and make it a point to enjoy living in the present.
My true passions: I have a strong passion for games on the felt, billards and poker. It's the mental part of both that challenges me (no matter how much I play) *smiles*
There are days that I stare at the pool table and see a pool table, balls arranged in a set pattern, and I am confident that my cue is a perfectly straight stick and she is on auto pilot.
The other days, I'll see an dark green ocean with pebbles everywhere. I swear that I see little gleaming fish that are moving those pebbles all over that felt. My cue feels like an ill-behaved eel, and it takes considerable effort on my part just to have any sort of control. These are the days that I can't seem to pocket any ball! Heh - but if I never missed shots (or anyone else for that matter), then there wouldn't be pool!
People from all walks of life make up our world; and I enjoy meeting people who have a unique something something about them, so please feel free to say hello!

A bit about me and people I enjoy:

I'm an easy going girl who likes to meet unique people. One thing I make an effort to do often is to experience something new; I think it's always important to enrich yourself. I like to spend time out and about in Austin, but can also appreciate the joy of staying in with a good movie to watch. I love to giggle; my sense of humor is a mix of dry and goofy with a dash of obscure *tosses a pinch of obscure spice*. There's usually something I'll find myself giggling about that most people wouldn't get. I value honesty above anything else, and avoid dishonest people with something to hide. I enjoy meeting good hearted people, which hold respect and integrity in high regards. A grand sense of humor with some quirkiness is always a plus!

If shooting a little pool is in your nature, you automatically move towards the top of the list!

This is my new guy, Jordan.

Music:

Pink Floyd, Dave Matthews, The Cure, Cold Play, Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, Nora Jones, Joe Satriani, Jack Johnson, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, James Blunt, Ugly Americans, Gorillaz

Local artists: Bob Schneider, Kevin Sekhani, Charlie Sexton, Guy Forsyth, David Garza

An artist that deserves to be recognized: Jonathan Coulton - Check Jonathan Coulton out now. Whatever you are doing, stop and take the time to listen - you won't regret it.

Jonathan Coulton is a professional software writer and sometime recreational robot-builder who happens to be an extremely funny songwriter. His songs scan a vast, weird range of subjects with the sort of wit, edge and self- deprecation heard in vintage Loudon Wainwright III or They Might Be Giants, or in newer bands like Fountains of Wayne but hes funnier than any of them. You can download his songs for free on his site or buy his CDs to support his talent!

My two favorite songs by Jonathan are (1) A Laptop Like You (Romantic) and (2) A Gambler's Prayer (You'll relate to this if you are a true gambler).

Television:

Not really. I do love Battlestar Galactica though. Fridays on the SciFi Channel. You should check it out...good times. Plus Starbuck is a female in this series! Some other great shows: Entourage, It's always Sunny in Philadelphia, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Lucky Louie and some good ol' poker tournaments.

Books:

Celestine Prophecy, Postively 5th Street, Guide to Killer Pool

Heroes:

Without a doubt: Battle Angel Alita!

Who is she?

She's a cyborg that has an organic human brain and was originally found in a wreckage. She's reconstituted by a cyber-surgeon engineer who becomes her surrogate father. He rebuilds her and gives her a name Gally, which later is known as Alita. Alita lives in a world where living conditions are poor, gangs roam the area, and "survival of the fittest" applies. Alita is a child with no past...even to herself. Mysterious combat abilities are within her though and after a period of some confusion, Alita registers herself as a "hunter/warrior".

Now you can see why she is a hero.

Actually, it's disasters, wars and unpleasant events that tend to bring out heroes - Necessity makes heroes of us all...
