De Surinaamse Voetbal Bond. Established on october 1st 1920. The first club to join the S.V.B. and still remains dominant in top ranking, is Voorwaarts.On the 15th of Jan 1921 Transvaal was incorporated. Previous to S.V.B. an association with the identical name excisted established in 1914. Establishment of the current S.V.B rushed the development of Suriname soccer beyond expectation.Suriname soccer took a more organized structure with the rules of the KNVB or Dutch Royal League as governing standard.Relevant rules during this period per example : - Matches lasted 2x25 min. with 5 min. halftime. - Referees were selected by a special cie. - Matches ending in a draw, went into a 10min.overtime. - An lasting draw was broken by casting a lot.On Jan.28th 1921 the first international match commenced between former British Guyana and Suriname. Suriname endured a 1 – 2 defeat. Aug 5th 1923 marked the first use of the national stadium and current home of the S.V.B at the Cultuurtuin lane. Two weeks later Suriname and Guyana rematched producing a 2 - 1 victory in Suriname favor.In 1924 the Suriname National Championship League debut. Olimpia emerged as the first national champion , while Transvaal possesed equal seat in the B-League.Incorporation of New Teams: September 1st 1924 establishment of Surinaamse Politie Sport Vereniging, currently P.V.V. March 1925 Moengo produced 3 clubs including Fearless and Artillerie. Jan 5th. 1926 M.V.V. incorporated its club. Since 1992 S.N.L. has made there presence permanent.The first club to compete abroad was Voorwaarts visiting St.Laurent. Voorwaarts thriumphed with 8 – 0.In 1929 on th 18th of May Suriname officially confirmed & established its F.I.F.A. membership June 7th 1929 marks the celebration of this honorable recognition in Suriname.In 1934 Suriname National Team first visited Curacao, followed by our first visit to Brasil in 1936.
