Essence: noun
1. the basic, real, and invariable nature of a thing or its significant individual feature or features
2. Philosophy. the inward nature, true substance, or constitution of anything, as opposed to what is accidental, phenomenal, illusory, etc.
3. something that exists, esp. a spiritual or immaterial entity.
CoMpArE and DJ Q-Sak, Altered Essence, formed a tight bond through their music and have connected with a motivation of using their talents to uplift and create an equal and just community as well as bringing awareness to a better world moving forward.
Altered Essence formed in 2007 subsequent to the release of CoMpArE's solo album "The Rare Specie" and prior to the Rare Specie tour.
Although, CoMpArE and Q sak have been recording music together since 2006 when they linked up to record the Rare Specie.
Since the release of the Rare Specie, Altered Essence has been busy in the lab on various projects. "Feel Good" was recorded along with Kahli and Matt Aronson and appears on both Kahli's Grind Theory as well as The Sound Fuse's "Much Higher to Go..." albums.
Also, Altered Essence anxiously await the finalizing and release of their "Wake Up!" album this fall.
