DIECAST have triumphantly returned with a stunning new effort, Internal Revolution, which perfectly showcases their constant evolution while fully developing their own unique sound that is destined to stand out as one of the scene’s most promising acts. With a new lineup intact, the group were able to expand upon their influences with no preconceived boundaries and the results were unlike anything they ever expected.
The additions of an entirely new rhythm section composed of Brad Horion (bass) and Dennis Pavia (drums) allowed Paul Stoddard (vocals) the freedom to finally unleash his natural singing voice, ultimately resulting in stellar, captivating melodies that still retain a hard edge. Guitarists Jon Kita and Kirk Kolaitis deliver their most impressive performances yet and prove that they are one of the most impressive up and coming guitar tandems.
DIECAST spent the better part of this past year fine-tuning Internal Revolution and teamed up with longtime producer Paul Trust in late May to track the long awaited effort. The disc promises to be their biggest sounding and most dynamic offering yet. Stoddard further elaborates: “DIECAST are now stronger than ever. I feel Internal Revolution is going to be one of the most diverse records to hit our scene to date. Guaranteed to be something for everyone.â€
DIECAST originally formed back in 1997 and spent years honing their craft in the underground scene. The group issued their debut album, Undo The Wicked, in 1998 on Samson Records, and it created a huge buzz within the burgeoning Northeast scene. The hype caught the attention of Now or Never Records, who immediately signed the band and released Day of Reckoning in 2001.
The album was well-received by fans and press alike, and DIECAST were quickly creating a name for themselves. The album’s standout track, “Singled Out,†showed the band’s diversity and songwriting ability, as it featured a captivating chorus matched with stunning melodies. The group were also one of the first bands of the metalcore genre to incorporate clean vocals into their songwriting, a true harbinger of the breadth and depth of the songwriting captured on Internal Revolution.
The diversity encapsulated on Day of Reckoning afforded them the opportunity to open for the legendary Alice Cooper in the U.S. and proved that they can play in front of any audience and win them over. Hot off the heels of this tour, the band continued their touring domination with Chimaria and Unearth that would eventually lead up to their biggest touring opportunity in 2002, landing the opening slot on the Slayer/Hatebreed tour. The band stepped up and delivered huge performances, proving that they not only belonged on the same stage as these genre titans but could also hold their own in front of these crowds.
In 2003, DIECAST enlisted vocalist Paul Stoddard who immediately pumped new life into the band and songwriting process. The group signed with Century Media Records and commenced recording shortly thereafter. The band stormed back onto the scene in 2004 with the ferocious album, Tearing Down Your Blue Skies, which marked their first effort with Stoddard handling vocal duties. The disc was hailed by critics as the band’s most accomplished work yet, as anthems such as “Medievalâ€, “Rise and Oppose†and “These Days†were greatly embraced by Headbangers Ball and Uranium. DIECAST toured the world relentlessly with the likes of Ill Nino, Agnostic Front, Hatebreed, Napalm Death and 3 Inches of Blood, further showcasing their chameleon-like ability to throwdown with any band anywhere.
With Internal Revolution, DIECAST have now carved out their own refreshing, unique niche within the scene.
