So the band started off as a trio. At that time, under the name 'we don't have a name yet, we just want to play some music', the band thought about playing a bit more soft music (and as they saw that soft music is actually not music, they took one step forward - into the waves of metal). It soon became clear, that they will need a bass player, and they thought about Gasper Bohorc, who already had a band - so the role of bass player was given to Vegelj, who learned how to play bass (and he mastered it, as his fingers became one with strings) and he became a singer and a bass player at once.
The band practised at Drummer's home. They realised, that this was going to be hard, cuz the neighbours were being 'f***ers too often'. Fortunately, the band heard about band practise room in MC Brezice (MC - stands for Mladinski Center, meaning youth centre), where they could practise, because the practise room had all the needed equipment too, which they themselfs didn't have (let us not count the 15 watt amps and stuff).
So they had their first practise in the beginning of october '06. After a short time, they already played a song from Amon Amarth and at that time they got an idea, that they could play viking death metal. After some practise, they found out, that they would need a second guitar, so they started searching for the second guitarist, suitable for the band, and at the end of november, they got lucky. They met Borut Hollan, who gladly accepted the invitation in the band, which now wasn't a trio anymore. Because of the type of music they were playing, they started searching for a new name and soon they renamed to Asgard (which was supposed to mean 'realm of viking gods'). They were playing good, but there was still not enough energy in the sound, so they all agreed that they will accept yet a new guitarist - Tadej Secen, who finally completed the band.
In May, Adam (one of the holy triforce of the Asgard beginnings) left the band. The reasons were held inside the band.
But changes didn't stop there. Asgard faced most difficult problem - the loss of the vocalist and bass player. Gregor Vegelj left the band, but the story and the reasons shall yet again remain between the members of Asgard. In December, they accepted a new bass player - Damjan Kovacic. He now holds the 5-string bass in his hands, representing the bass player of the band. Asgard had to find a new vocalist - one suitable for the music they played - and so it did - members accepted Luka Znidersic into the band and he turned out to be a great vocalist.
And yes - history repeats. Due to some top secret reasons, our guitarist and also the biggest viking in our band - Tadej Secen - left Asgard, but even though he is not in the band anymore, he is still a part of Asgard! So they are ready now, after months of band's demise...
In September 2008 we started recording our second demo - Thor's Hammer - which came out in the late November('08). It contains 6 whip slashing, shield splintering, sword crushing tracks. The demo is available for download on our myspace.
Now, Asgard is formed in the following combination: Luka Znidersic, Tilen Volcansek, Borut Hollan and Damjan Kovacic. They have released two demos, The Army of the Sea and Thor's Hammer.
