Poxy

About Me

Poxy was formed 1997 in Seattle. The original lineup was Jacob: vocals, Andy: guitar, Nils: bass, Mark: guitar, and Brandon: drums. They recorded a demo "13 Reasons to Hate Poxy" and a track for a 7" comp for Blind Ambition Records which also included Contaminted, Endless Struggle, and Classic Assholes. The band lost Mark and Jacob and Travis was brought on as vocalist. With this lineup the band recorded 9 songs. 8 of these songs were released on "The Very End" on A.D.D. Records. The other song "Never Give Up" was released on Charged Records PUNX UNITE 2nd comp. "Violate the Innocent, Tempt the Poor" came out on the Aborted Society Records comp, "Abscess Operandi." The band picked up ex-Contaminated singer Jerome Van Wonder III to play rhythm guitar. Poxy caught the attention of bands like The Casualties, The Virus, Global Threat, and The Unseen after "The Very End" was released and went on to have a very successful US tour. Jerome and Brandon left the band shortly after the tour and Poxy picked up Herb to play rhythm guitar and Josh to play drums. Next the band recorded 10 songs for "Calling from the Dark Side of the Nation" which was released on A.D.D. Records. With this punk/metal release, Poxy were getting known as the most groundbreaking/original band in the streetpunk scene. Maximum Rock N Roll compared the album to Conflict/UK 82/Metallica. The band befriended The End and had a 1.5 month US tour planned. Two weeks before the tour, Josh got into a car accident which broke his arm so the band had to cancel and dissapoint many awaiting fans all across the country. After this fatality, the band tried to keep going but feel apart.During their time, Poxy played with Vice Squad, The Casaulties, The Unseen, The Varukers, Clit 45, Defiance, Antidote, The Virus, Endless Struggle, Religous War, Aus Rotten, Contamintated, The Bloodclots, The Riffs, A Global Threat, Axiom, and many many more...Nils and Herb both went on to be in Rabid Dogs and now play in The Greatest Hits. Josh plays for Dreadful Children. Brandon played in Rabid Dogs and now plays in The Pop Machine. Jerome has a hip hop project. Travis works on cars. Jacob kickboxes. The wearabouts of Andy and Mark are....
