EASTERN BLOC STUDIOS HISTORYEastern Bloc was originally opened as Razor’s Edge Recording by owner Jonathan Burnside in San Francisco in 1987. The studio hosted seminal U.S. bands over the next twelve years, including Faith No More, Michael Franti, Fu Manchu, The Melvins, Bernard Purdie and No FX. Mixing work was also done for bands such as Depeche Mode, Nirvana, Paris and Meat Beat Manifesto.Jonathan closed Razor’s Edge to play guitar on tour and produce in Europe and later reopened the studio in Sydney where it’s clients included The Sleepy Jackson, The Living End, Youth Group, Eskimo Joe, The Pictures, The Grates and The Devoted Few.In early 2006, the studio was moved to a larger space in Melbourne’s inner-eastern neighborhood of Hawthorn and renamed Eastern Bloc Studios. Eastern Bloc’s clients include Dallas Crane, The Dukes of Windsor, The Living End, The Androids, Legends of Motorsport, The Basics, Mark Seymour and Treetops.
