candle_light_love myspace layoutsCoutiea Broady-Paulk, a native of Blackshear, Ga, began singing at the age of 5. She was born on September 17, 1975 to Charles Broady and Roberta Eady. Surrounded by a talented family, she decided ministering was her ultimate goal. She is a wife and a loving mother of three beautiful children. She began just simply being a hairstylist. "Coutiea can do it" her family and friends would say, however, doing hair was just a hobby for her. Trying to take a step forward, Coutiea set out to attend different talent contests and sing at different churches in her area. "That's not enough", she says. If I have to do it, I have to do it right." She attended an audition for American Idol in 2005 in Charlotte, NC. NOT! "We don't want you to audition gospel, they said. Her original song of choice changed in that moment, but this was not for her. Her plan was to begin gospel and stay there. Facing so much adversity and dealing with the tales of how singing gospel is a waste of time. "Well, she dediced, I'll just sing for God. I'll minister and then if there is anything left, then so be it. God is first anyway, so that is where I want to be. " This would be the real beginning for Coutiea. Over the past five years every attempt she has ever put forth for her music has been drowned. In her own words, "What God has for me is for me", she is determined to complete the tasks she set out to accomplish years ago. So here she is now,"beginning again". She also has plans for her family of 7 sisters and 4 brothers to eventually all sing together. We can do it, if we try! Her heroes are God first, then great artists such as David and Tamala Mann, Smokie Norful, Be Be & Ce Ce Winans, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, J. Moss, The Pace Sisters, Mary Mary, Karen Clark-Sheard, Kiera Sheard, Virtue, Kirk Franklin, Beverly Crawford and many, many more. Just to sing next to some of these great artist would be a dream come true for her.
