East Coast Koala Project

I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I am a Koala (Phascolarctos Cinereus) a thickset arboreal marsupial herbivore found solely in certain regions of eastern and southern Australia. I am broadly similar in appearance to the wombat (my closest living relative), but I have a thicker coat, bigger ears and longer limbs:-) Contrary to my cuddly appearance, I have large, sharp claws to assist with me climbing trees.Sadly, I was hunted almost to extinction in the early 20th century, largely for my fur. Millions of furs were traded to Europe and the USA, Today, habitat loss, bush fires and the impacts of urbanization are the leading threats to the survival of koalakind, in recent years, some colonies have been hard hit by disease. But thanks to some really nice humans I think we might be around for a few more years
