Casella is singer/songwriter Chris Kearney. Born and raised in Long Island, NY, Chris learned to play on an Estrada classical accoustic guitar his father had found in a pile of garbage in Lake George, NY. At the time Chris was eight years old and he remembers thinking to himself, "This is it; this is what I want to do."
Playing in garage bands throughout high school proved to be fun for Chris, but when he packed his bags in 1996 to go to college in Albany, NY, he bought a Takamine accoustic guitar and went solo. Without any formal training, he has since traveled across the country, and the Atlantic, opening for a wide variety of musicians; playing for a melting pot of enthusiastic fans.
Taking the name Casella from Dante Alighieriis' Purgatorio, Chris has finished his debut EP with producer and musician Blake Ian of 27 records. When asked why he has waited so long to finally release an album, he simply answered, "It needed time." In his mind, he needed to play shows and travel to let the music mature. Twelve years and over several thousands of miles later, the music he has created is now ready to be heard by the public.
