Blessed with the heart of a soldier and the mind of a scholar, Rico Fonzarelli is set to set the charts on fire locally and nationally. Straight from the Southwest side Number Street area a side of town many consider to be a third world country comes Rico Fonzarelli. Taking no prisoners on his debut album titled Hustler’z Ambition; Rico Fonzarelli is set to explode. When asked what motivates him to do music he replies “My hood and everyone in it, the streets is my motivation because I’m able to say what other brothers are not in a position to say, my album is like the ghetto CNN with a little HBO in the mix its show time!!!!â€. Rico Fonzarelli aka Mr. Motor City was born to a single mother on Detroit’s southwest side. Raised by his mother and grandmother Rico had a decent upbringing but he is still a product of his environment where he learned many of his lifetime lessons. Dedicated to not being a failure Rico was an A student in school but at the same time dedicated to not being seen as a square or a sell out Rico maintained strong ties to his community which gave him the best of both worlds. Therefore he could fit in where ever he goes whether he’s in the street or on the campus of his alma mater Michigan State University. You may hear Rico say Renaissance is the label, Chain Gang is the posse and Exit Strategy is the movement. He isn’t saying it for his health each statement has an encoded meaning. Renaissance Records is Rico’s way of bringing hip-hop back to life thus a form of re-birth and also bringing that Detroit sound back to prominence. 10 out of 10 times when you see Rico he wears a chain connecting his wallet to his belt buckle, this is his chain gang that represents those trapped in struggle which explains the meaning behind that. Last but not least the Exit Strategy Movement which is based on making the transition from the streets to the executive suites. In his own words Rico describes the Exit Strategy movement as the millennium Underground Railroad using music/entertainment as a means to help his brothers and sisters escape the lifestyle the streets have to offer. Rico Fonzarelli made the decision to pursue music in the summer of 2006. As he explains he knew he could not live a normal quite existence; the man has a lot to say. From the courtrooms to the classrooms he’s seen it giving him a unique perspective on life which you see in his music. Mr. Fonzarelli aka Mr. Motor City is slated to be a major force in 07, with the tenacity of a pit bull and the determination of a prize fighter; he cannot lose. Rico defiantly wants in with his solo album set to be released on 7-07-07 and no one can stop his rise to the top; so strap on your set belt and ride with Mr. Motor City.
