About Me
When I first began my professional career, I began in the entertainment industry in all manner of jobs...I finally left the craziness of the entertainment industry and spent 8 years serving the Workman's Comp community as a Vocational Rehab consultant. After realizing this was a dead-end business, I decided to go back to school to earn my Bachelor's Degree.By this time I was married and my son was 1 year old. I wanted to follow my bliss, finally finding the courage to go ahead and study Dance, completing my AA at Santa Monica College and successfully transferred to UCLA's School of the Arts and Architecture. It was there that I discovered Yoga, under the instruction of Shiva Rea. I immediately became aware of the therapeutic potential for healing that Yoga has, deciding that I wanted to help people through this discipline. After graduating from UCLA in 2000, I continued on to earn my Yoga Teacher's training wtih Yoga Works in Santa Monica, CA, studing with Maty Ezraty and Lisa Walford.Once I completed the course I began to teach at Yoga studios, teaching in the Iyengar tradition that I was taught, and continuing to study various therapeutic modalities.Since then, I have taught at numerous studios, as well as teaching privately. I have slowly made my way from the studio scenario into Senior Citizen homes, hospitals and other clinical settings. While I have worked with people who experience Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, Hypertension, Arthritis, Back Injuries/Pain, Panic Disorders, Depression, among many others, I seem to have been called to work primarily with Cancer patients.I am very proud of the work I do in this realm and have discovered how the gift of Yoga has helped patients, and their families, to find not only peace and acceptance, but also how it has helped in their search for relief from the emotional pains of anxiety and depression, as well as from their physical pain, nausea and overall discomfort allowing a space for healing on all levels. In 2005, I earned a Master's degree from the University of Santa Monica (see www.gousm.edu) in Spiritual Psychology. This experience offered me the opportunity to develop a unique and personal form of Yoga which incorporates not only the physical aspects of Yoga but also creates the opportunity to explore the mental and emotional aspects of the Self. This program I have called Life Skills Yoga and have begun teaching workshops and seminars, for which I am available.I am also a Certified Hypnotherapist and a member of both Yoga Alliance, RYT (www.YogaAlliance.org) and the International Association of Yoga Therapists (www.IAYT.org). My experience has also created for me a degree of respect in the medical community whereby I have been asked to also teach medical staff and personnel at USC School of Health and Sciences, White Memorial and Glendale Adventist.Over the years, since I am fluent in Spanish, I have been interviewed on Univision's morning news as well as have had a piece covering the work I do with Cancer Patients on Univision's Local Heroes series. I have been interviewed twice on two other Spanish language radio shows and on the internet radio show "Honey...Trust Me On This" with Sandy Steele for www.voiceamerica.com. I also aired a six-week radio series on www.ktern.com (The Enlightenment Radio Network), both of which can be found archived at their respective sites. In June of 2006 I was featured in an article for Woman's World magazine (06/13/06) highlighting how Yoga can be utilized for burning fat.My career continues to expand and opportunties for workshops and public speaking engagements continue to open up, as well as more opportunties within the Cancer community. If you, or a family member, are suffering, please feel free to contact me through this page.I have learned we are all on this planet to serve each other in whatever way that our gifts allow and I am happy to serve if able.(ONLY serious considerations for assitance please, I am NOT seeking personal advances, thank you.)
