WE ARE NOW A UNITED POLITICAL FORCE:

To everyone who has participated at Renaissance Place on Myspace.

Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Ron San Angelo. He is the current mayor and a big time supporter of Renaissance Place.

I told him what has been happening at Renaissance Place Space (credit to Danielle for coming up with the name) and to my surprise he was aware of our site and has read many of our comments.

Here is the interesting part. He told me that in Naugatuck’s past elections the younger generation has accounted for very few votes. So low that mayoral candidates hardly take the younger generation into consideration when putting together a campaign. The younger generation simply does not care enough to vote, so they are largely overlooked as a target voter.

In the last week we have proved that wrong. Naugatuck Renaissance Place Space has become a political force. We are now an online community of 420(and growing) well educated and soon to be influential people. We represent a generation of young adults that can see exactly what this town can and needs to become. We have taken the time to educate ourselves on the realities of the Renaissance Place plan. We have shown the ability to stand by our decisions and not be influenced by the inaccurate information spread by those opposed. We are a generation that needs to be taken seriously. We are the future of Naugatuck and we are sick and tired of our decisions being made for us by people who do not see what is really happening to our town. We recognize the need for positive change and forward growth. We want to enjoy working, playing, and living in Naugatuck. We have found our voice in only 10 days and from what I hear the opposition for Renaissance place is listening.

To quiet our voice they are planning on showing up at the polls organized and ready to shoot down this project. They will come in numbers as they always have, fearing change and halting progress. They want to vote no to Renaissance Place. WE CANNOT LET THIS HAPPEN!!!

The election is only 1 day away. On Monday May 7th we need to take our comments and promises to the polls. We need to organize ourselves. If you are too young to vote you need to tell your parents you want Renaissance Place. You need to tell your older brothers, older sisters, friends, and parents that they need to take advantage of the right they have as a registered voter and VOTE YES for Renaissance Place. If you are old enough to vote you need to grab friends that are old enough and VOTE YES for Renaissance Place. If you have parents or friends that have been influenced by the inaccurate claims of the opposition you need to set them straight. Bring them to our Renaissance Place Space on myspace and show them that you got your information from State Legislator’s letters, articles from the newspaper, architectural articles, The Renaissance Place Phase 1 plan and other member’s educated comments.

On Monday May 7th tell the candidates in Naugatuck we can be the deciding factor for Renaissance Place. We can make Renaissance Place a reality. It is time for us to scream louder than the opposition. It is time for us to show that we can make a well informed decision regarding what is best for our future. It is time for us to show that we have as much to lose if Naugatuck citizens do not approve Renaissance Place. In the next two days we need to reach out and tell everyone who will listen that the younger generations of this town want Renaissance Place. We want a better Naugatuck. We want higher paying jobs in a thriving community. We want to be proud of our town. WE NEED TO SEND OUR MESSAGE LOUD AND CLEAR…….ON MONDAY MAY 7TH WE WILL BE VOTING YES TO RENAISSANCE PLACE. SOUND OFF!! LET THE MEMBERS KNOW YOU MEAN IT……COMMENT OUR SPACE WITH “ON MONDAY MAY 7th I WILL BE VOTING YES TO RENAISSANCE PLACE”
