About Me

Mark Bentley, aka Bentley, aka Beefy, aka the Funk Monk... Raised in Philadelphia on an unrestricted musical diet that ranged from Southern Rock to Zappa... Return to Forever to N'awlins Funk. Started Church Choir at 6, Piano Lessons at 7, High School Rock shows in the early teens, and by age 15 this underage soulful Singer / Keyboard Player was rocking the top Clubs all over the Tri-State area. In a valiant challenge to disco, Bentley designed The Emergency Response Soul Mobile: a Gran Torino station wagon fitted with coffin rails in the back, allowing a baby grand piano to slide to the end of the tailgate.911, Stop in Traffic, Drop the Tailgait, Slide out the Piano, and Proceed to Groove! Needless to say... Disco Died! Now residing in Southern California... Mark continues to bring his own blend of Southern, Funky, Make you say Unh! music...to fans from all over. When not performing with Johnny "V" Vernazza, or his own original band "The Shades" he is often seen on live dates and studio sessions with great acts all over the South West.
