About Me

Hid section"A mirror reflects a man's face, but what he is really like is shown by the kind of friends he chooses and the actions he has taken." ........"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe."...... Life is not about being a spectator..its about giving it your all, Building Net-works, being grateful, enjoying life with those you luv and those who push you to be better, Thinking positive, always improving mentally, physically, and spiritually. ツ Who said Chivalry was dead? ツ.....Beauty captures the eye, but personality captures the heart..---------------------------------------------------

The day light breaks again Another day has begun. But still no sleep has come. My body is wearyMy mind overworked. I lie awake thinkingBut what I am unsure. I need to break free from the cycle I endure.Everyday is the same and the nights are undistinguished. I feel as though I am being pushed along with the tideUnable to break free from the everyday flow. This is not me I need to change, before time takes overAnd I am unable to change. I need to be freed from the grasp of ordinaryAnd become that person I have always longed for. Express myself in every way, and conquer the dreams as I lie awake. Then I may fall asleep and put my mind to rest. Make changes in my life and help those in need.I would like to touch everyone's life in a positive way And leave my mark on society before I fade away.

My Organization(s)

OMEGA DELTA FRATERNITY
"BROTHERHOOD THROUGH PROFESSIONALISM"

OMEGA DELTA FRATERNITY, INC.
Founding Date: January 19, 1997
Founding Campus: University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign

Side fact:
The actual first meeting on forming Omega Delta was held at Murphy’s bar on Green St. If you look hard enough, you will find our letters etched into one of the tables. That is the one main reason you will see our Brothers in Murphy’s frequently.
Mascot: Bald Eagle
Symbols: Pyramid, Candle, Book and Scale
Colors: Navy Blue and Beige
Official Motto: “Building Brotherhood through Professionalism”

Statement of Purpose: 1. To promote an environment for academic and social success. 2. To provide leadership opportunities for all members. 3. To build a networking base for college life and beyond. 4. To create a culturally diverse environment. 5. To encourage member involvement in philanthropic endeavors.

"Once an Omega, always an Omega, everywhere an Omega."
Omega Delta is dedicated to building Men of Principle and Leadership. Our brotherhood aids the individual, builds the Fraternity and strengthens the host academic institution through lifelong devotion to intellectual excellence, high standards of moral conduct and responsible citizenship. As individuals, we strive for professionalism in character as we continue our pursuit of knowledge and meaning.
The achievement of intellectual excellence is an enduring object of Omega life. Men of Principle and Leadership calls for the implementation of a comprehensive program of mentoring and incentives which will foster academic excellence. Men of Principle and Leadership sets specific annual chapter goals which relate to the all-men's GPA and the all-fraternity GPA. Perhaps of greater importance, commitment to the cultivation of the intellect in broader terms requires that the life style or culture of the chapter encourage and support academic achievement.
Being Men of Principle and Leadership requires Omegas to live by the highest standards of social conduct. In recognition of the devastating effect that alcohol and illegal drugs have on our brotherhood, the Men of Principle and Leadership initiative relies on the chapter to introduce and sustain a responsible alcohol management policy in accordance with local laws and rules of the host institution. The elimination of substance abuse through education, intervention, mutual support and progressive sanctions calls for and imposes the highest level of chapter self-governance, monitoring and discipline.

Our Strength.
We live in a diverse society and it is because of this fact, we feel that by networking with other cultures, we can learn from one another and eliminate many stereotypes and misunderstandings our imperfect society holds. If we stick to one kind of culture, we close our minds and do it a great injustice. We would also miss the opportunity to participate in different and new experiences that would help us grow as individuals and as an organization. We strive to build cultural awareness in Omega Delta, thus we are always looking to increase our knowledge of other cultures as well as those of our Brothers.
Diversity along with professionalism, is what we believe make us so successful and is the core of our strength. We host, participate and sponsor events with a wide variety of other organizations such as AAA, ISA, PSA, MSA, CLSA, CSASA and KASA. Events that we have participated in or cosponsored in the past include Culture Shock, Latino Fashion show, Asian American Fashion show, Boxes and Walls and Diversity Night Market.

The Future of the Greek Community The only certain thing in life is change and that is what we see for the future of the Greek community. The meaning for our actual Greek letters is “Final Change”, which is what we see ourselves on this campus. We recognized the need for multiculturism on this campus and decide to make a change in one of the most high profile organizations on campus. The Greek community.
While other organizations were content with staying in their own ethnic groups and comfort zones, we pushed forward to bring multiculturism into prominent view. How can we teach and promote multiculturism, diversity and acceptance, if we are not part of the larger Greek community? The only way was to become a force in our own right and run side by side with the larger Greek organizations. By doing so, we have raised a new level of awareness to many minority and multicultural issues on campus.
"We now have a new union of all men into a fifth universal race, with the fruit of all the previous ones and amelioration of everything past. We assimilated those races and that gives us new rights and hopes for a mission without precedent in history."
La Raza Cosmica
Jose Vasconcelos

Becoming a Professional.
Professionalism along with diversity, are two key aspects, which we believe, set us apart from many other organizations. We come to college not only to earn a degree, but also to become professional adults. Many who leave college with credentials, may not have become professionals or even have a clue on how to act in the working world. We believe that a major part of success deals with the way we present ourselves to the public. Upon entering our prospected University, we moved from being adolescents to being young adults who are set on an aggressive educational and career oriented path. We should act accordingly.
Through programs, conferences, classes, leadership opportunities, networking and personal experiences, our Brothers enter the working world not only with a degree, but also with a sense of professional etiquette and ethos.

Events and Programming During the course of school year, every chapter is constantly involved in professional events. These include holding resume workshops, professional speaking classes, mock interview analyzing sessions, leadership classes, corporate structure classes and business dinner/lunch etiquette classes.

Professional Networking As an Omega Delta Brother, you automatically become a part of one of the fastest growing networking groups in the Midwestern United States. Through solid professional connections, our Brothers are able to help one another in bettering the lives of their fellow Brothers and help them in their own professional careers.
Through internal databases and our website, alumni and undergraduates are tracked by profession and geographical location. Brothers then use this information to make the appropriate contact that will enable them to gain advice, inquire about a position or just to introduce themselves to that individual. Professional communication is the backbone on which Omega Delta thrives and it shows in our networking and constant drive to see all of our Brothers succeed.

Keeping the Edge. Of all that Omega Delta stands and works for, academic success is of the greatest importance. We all arrive on this campus to fulfill one similar goal: to graduate with a degree from our prospective University. Nothing should interfere with our path to graduation. In Omega Delta, we realize that this task is not an easy one. It is a challenging and long process, but when completed, all the hours of hard work and dedication will prove valuable.
As a Brotherhood, we do not encourage to take on this process alone. A benefit of fraternity life is the academic help Brothers offer each other. Often, Brothers study together, help when they see someone struggling or even take classes together. Our broad range of majors ensures that no one has to work alone in their respective fields. We have engineering, business, computer science, architecture, and political science majors to name a few. There are also study resources such as recent notes, tests and books available within the fraternity’s library. This type of environment, where academic assistance is so readily available, is difficult to find outside of the Greek community. Omega Delta prides itself on having one of the best environments within this community.
We encourage members to attend time management workshops and tutoring. Through study hours, study groups and mandatory grade releases, Omega Delta keeps a sharp eye on all its members and their progress. Excelling academically shows commitment and drive; two key virtues of any Omega Delta men. Education and information is the key to a better life and a better future for Omega Delta and its Brothers.

Philanthropy
Philanthropy involves the donation or granting of money to various worthy charitable causes through planned and coordinated events. Omega Delta Brothers annually participate in events such as Delta Gamma’s Anchor Splash, Walk for Life, Locks of Love, Alpha Phi’s Operation Ivy, Mud Volleyball, Delta Zeta’s Chili Super, Phi Mu’s Broom Ball, Relay For Life, campus video game tournaments, Tri Delt’s Greeks at Bat and Alpha Omicron Pi’s Mud Wars.
Along with attending and sponsoring events on the University of Illinois campus, we frequently travel to other Omega Delta chapters to help promote and support their philanthropy events. In addition, each summer, there is a National Philanthropy weekend, where all Omega Delta Brothers, both undergrad and alumni, donate a weekend to work towards one specific Philanthropy project.

Work hard, Play hard.
Social success is very important to all Omega Delta brothers and plays a huge role in our success not just as individuals, but as an organization as well. Academics are our top priority, but school isn’t all work and no play. Neither is life for that matter; that is why we acknowledge that making the grade while making invaluable social contacts is paramount to our ethos. Succeeding in the professional world takes education and the mastery of your profession; however, a large part of succeeding is directly linked with your personal relationships with others. This includes having a strong social life and proper knowledge of social etiquette.
As Brother of Omega Delta, we pride ourselves on holding events that are held to a higher standard and are unique in form. We enjoy hosting events where our multiculturism, professionalism and networking base are showcased. At our events, you will be surrounded by a plethora of ethnicities and meet people from every walk of life. You will also meet many other Greeks from both culturally based and mainstream organizations. We are here to bridge gap and bring people together and what better way to do it, then in a very diverse social scene.
Through these events, connections and friendships are made and through those connections, our networking base grows into a wide range of cultural, professional and social organizations. That is why our unspoken secondary motto has always been “Work hard, Play hard.”
