It all began in the livingroom of the Dutch Tulp-family at Maassluis- the Netherlands: Dick on doublebass, Wouter on saxophones and Jan-Willem on piano/rhodes piano. After a few years of playing all kinds of jazz-standards and some gigs, they decided to invite friend and drummer Vincent van Anraad to play along. A year later (2004) Coen Hamelink joins the band on trumpet and flugelhorn. Muzz Jazz Quintet is now ready to kick some jazz!
After six months of rehearsing they played their first gig in hometown Maassluis. A few months later they alreeds played at the Hillegersberg Jazzfestival Rotterdam.
In November 2005, Muzz recorded their first selftitled CD at studio ‘Emiel Zwaard Recordings Delft’. It contains four Muzz-compositions and three jazz standards. Seven relaxed jazztracks that goes from Bossa Nova, Cool Jazz to Soul Jazz.
From 2006 until now, Muzz is playing more and more gigs in Holland, sometimes with the great and young, very talented vocalist Rosalinde Schön.
Unfortunately, drummer Vincent van Anraad leaves the band early 2007 (Vincent, thank you for the past great years!). Luckily, we can welcome our new drummer George van Gestel! From this day on, Muzz is working hard on new songs for their second album.
