Freewheelin

About Me

Freewheelin began in 2003 as a Rockin’ Boogie & Blues Band and evolved to incorporate a wider selection of styles including southern rock, funk, blues/rock and their original tunes (coming soon to this site).
Upfront and centre Freewheelin is led by powerhouse singer Gary Bird. With over 20 years of smokin' gigs with bands such as Black Label, Gary's vocals are trully drenched in the blues driven by a stage delivery that fires with both barrels. In addition Steve's outstanding guitar technique genuinely leaves audiences & guitar enthusiasts standing in front of him in awe of his ability "letting the guitar talk for itself". Col and Shep's driving rhythms, fly by the seat of your pants & quirky sense of humour get the crowd involved, creating an exciting atmosphere at all events & venues. Darren the latest member of Freewheelin is damn right funky and furiously red from bass to hair "his groove will get your mama on the dancefloor". Three part harmonies add depth to the unique sound that gets crowds singing along with some patrons losing all inhibitions and trying to join in for an instant band audition on the spot "there is never a dull moment at their shows". With continuous encore requests this foursome is pure magic live, once you've seen them you'll want more.
Freewheelin is management & agency backed with residencies and repeat bookings from venues & privates who provide outstanding references.
The band has supported national touring artists, played large music festivals and performed at live venues such as the Bridge hotel, The Orient, Rag & Famish, Husky Pub, Dicey Rileys, regular Bike & Hot Rod, Car & Truck Shows, just ask us.
Based on our extensive experience Freewheelin can tailor shows to your specific needs from short appearances to long 4 hour shows.
Full PA sound and lighting is included for all venues from small rooms up to most outdoor venues. Public Liability Insurance included.

"One of the best bands I have heard in the past 12 months... Actually I believe this band has held the largest crowd in our venue since 2002".
