Hi, my name is Darrell Craig Harris and I perform here in Las Vegas as the bassist and backup Taiko drum soloist with Cirque Du Soleil's "Mystere" at Treasure Island Casino. I have been performing for many years, first touring when I was fifteen I have pretty much never stopped playing and traveling the world. I started out in music on guitar and vocals, then bass and on to drums and percussion. I marched with the Velvet Knights drum corps from 1980-83, and had exposure to some of the best players and instructors in drumming. I played in various positions with VK (bass dr, quads, snare) and also instructed with the corps and local college and high schools in the So. Cal area for a period of time. I have had endorsements through the years with groups that I have performed in, these include Paiste, ProMark, Slingerland, Ludwig, Remo, LP (Latin Percussion), Soul Tone Cymbals, DC California drums..
My most recent drumming/percussion projects have included ethinc hand drum performance on recordings for the upcoming Coachella festival appearance of the Vaudville Cirque group Lucent Dossier, and writng and performing on the score for the upcoming independent film Ablution with my good friend violinist and composer Martin StPierre (Ghost Rider, Spiderman 3, The Grudge 1-2, winner of the Sundance composers award this past year, see him at www.MartinStPierre.com).
I am currently focusing on African/world music style drumming, and keeping my marching chops available too :) I am available for recording and live performances (schedule permitting) so please contact me here on MySpace with any questions.
Alsoooo, you can see me along with my other "Mystere" cast mates in the upcoming Universal film "Knocked Up" coming out this June :0)
