Where's My Jack Berger?

About Me

I guess the abridged 'about me' is basically that I'm a student at UCSB in lovely Isla Vista, California and I am the Artsweek Editor at the Daily Nexus and I sell cookiewiches and coffee at I.V. Drip. I love movies (obviously, since I'm a film major) and I also love my friends, the beach, writing & reading, music, cooking, drinking, traveling, lazy afternoons reading Vogue and watching crap t.v., dancing, yoga, good conversations that keep you up until sunrise, working out, my family, shopping, politics (i heart the west wing so much it's ridiculous), and lots of other fun stuff. Basically, I'm open to trying everything once and I am a big fan of living for the moment and, at the same time, planning for a fabulous future. Okay, all of that totally sounds like a cheesy bio from a dating game-show or something, but whatever. IM me @ SweetSublime310. Check out my column at www.independent.com!!

My Interests

movies, music, books, television (in that order). . .i love sleeping, eating, good conversation, going to the gym, working hard & playing harder

Music:

i pretty much like everything. . .reggae, rock, alternative, acoustic, folk, country, rap, oldies, classical (good for studying) and i've even been known to blast a show-tune or two now and again

Movies:

casablanca, citizen kane, dirty dancing, his girl friday, the big lebowski, a walk on the moon, rules of the game, open city, we all loved each other so much, requiem for a dream, mean girls, clueless, double indemnity, almost famous, the original scarface (1930s version), all the godfather movies, some like it hot, anything directed by pedro almodovar, y tu mama tambien, bridget jones diary, all the wes anderson movies but especially royal tennenbaums, breakfast at tiffanys, easy rider, rebel without a cause, land of the dead, anything done in 30 seconds by bunnies, sabrina, desperado, el mariachi, once upon a time in mexico, stagecoach, night of the living dead, the postman always rings twice, i heart huckabees, crash. . .this isn't even the beginning of the list. . . For it is not inertia alone that is responsible for human relationships repeating themselves from case to case, indescribably monotonous and unrenewed: it is shyness before any sort of new, unforeseeable experience with which one does not think oneself able to cope. But only someone who is ready for everything, who excludes nothing, not even the most enigmatical, will live the relation to another as something alive and will himself draw exhaustively from his own existence.

Television:

Law & Order, The West Wing, Desperate Housewives, Food Network, Sex & The City *my favorite show*

Books:

breakfast at tiffany's, the island, drop city, siddhartha, shoot to kill, anything by dan brown, the bell jar, white rose, the princess bride, sloppy firsts, the perks of being a wallflower, dangerous angels. . .i can't think of them all right now but there's a lot more.

Heroes:

Christine Vachon, Michael Moore, my grandmother Anna Vandor, anyone that does things on their own terms & makes positive contributions to society
