Brandon Sherman

Brandon Sherman is a Trumpet player and composer currently based out of the Los Angeles area. He received his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of Nevada, Reno and his Master of Fine Arts in Jazz Studies at the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, CA. He devotes his time towards what he calls "Progressive Contemporary Creative Contextual Spontaneous Improvisational Musicking." Though his music is unique, it has been labeled "similar to" the music of Ralph Alessi, Kneebody, Ron Miles, James Miley, Steve Reich, the Claudia Quintet, John Hollenbeck Large Ensemble, and many other groups. Brandon constantly strives toward creating progressive creative improvisational music that blurs the lines of multiple musical genres while still paying homage to the great tradition of jazz music and free improvisation.
