Formed on Merseyside in January 2008, The Last Gambados take their influences from the classic pop songwriters of the 1960’s and the dub icon’s of the 70’s - combining sweet melodies with lush harmonies, before wrapping them in modern beats and loving arrangements.
Think the Band, the Beach Boys, the Zombies, Pink Floyd, Phil Spector, then add some Toots and The Maytals and a bit of King Tubby, along with a touch of the Bees, Cherry Ghost and Doves and you’re on your way.
The line up of Phil Mason on Keys, John O’Hare on Guitar, Paul Hagan on Guitar, Bob Dunn on Drums and Mick Ryder on Bass all share vocals, to create a lush sound way beyond the reach of your average five piece band.
Before joining forces to form the Gambados, individual band members have put in performances at Glastonbury and V festivals, Abbey Road Studios, and Liverpool’s Echo Arena, as well as recording with Elvis Costello, Christy Moore, and appearing on a handful of live Radio 2 sessions.
The Last Gambados are currently finishing their self-produced debut album and are preparing to embark on a series of live dates in 2009.
