My name is Nikolai, it is my Christian name, but I have gone by other names before.
I am Eastern Orthodox Christian who converted from Protestant Christianity about 3 years ago.
I am just all together a pretty conservative person, but I mean that in the true sense of the word not in a: stereo-typed, war mongering, nuke everything sort of way, but rather moral and anti-federal political conservatism.
I have a long history of political activism. Ever since I was 13, in the 8th grade, I wrote a paper for my American History Class on the misunderstanding of Communist and Socialist thought. When I was 15 I joined the Anarchist Black Cross Federation, attended and planned many events in my area as well, but whereupon expressing interest in religion I was ousted from the group. I am still trying to find my place in the philosophy of it all.
I have spent the last 2 years, since I have graduated high school, traveling the United States and becoming more acquainted with the American ethos and culture. I have been back east several times; usually every summer since I was seventeen. In doing so it has filled me with a desire for a philanthropic occupation of some sort. I want to work mostly overseas with food and vaccine distribution, that I know, but with what organization I am still trying to find out.
A traveler’s opinion of the world abroad changes drastically, once having met the ones who call themselves homeless. There are very few things in life I find worth while, and it’s not a statement of pessimism rather priority. To look at ones life in retrospect, the only two things that have mattered (and will forever continue to matter) are people and ideals, and it’s those two things that societies ignore the most.
