Tanaki Recordings LLC. A music production company started in 2003. Specializing in custom beats, recording, post-production and mixing. RJ Pompey is the head owner of the buisness. Born Dec. 14th 1987, in Jacksonville, FL. "Duval County". At the age of 5, his family relocated to Scotland, England as a military family move. His father was in the United States Navy. After 3 yrs over seas, the Pompey Family came back to the states to begin to focus on RJ's future and education. He was given his first synthisizer at age 12, but at the time, he explains, he was more interesed in football. A promising career in professional sports seem to be within reach, before a Rib Cage injury suffered in the 10th grade. "I was always making beats, but not like everybody elses beats. I enjoyed Techno alot, and street racing. Thats where all my motivation came from, the adrenalin of racing." says Rj in a 2005 interview with Duval Magizine. "After my injury, i just focused on graduating school, and supporting my mom." His parents suffered a divorce in 1999 which put RJ, the only child, the head of the house hold, and made him see life a little more clearly quicker. " I always look at things really really deep. You have no idea. Non at all. But you can hear it in my music." After graduating high school from Nathan B. Forest Sr. High School, he was awarded the oppurtunity to attend Full Sail Real World Edu. for Recording Arts, and Engineering. Loan troubles, and expensises beyond his control, he was forced to leave school, but not empty handed. " I know the buisness of music and how to make it enjoyable and profitable. I know how to reinvent myself. I know how to convince you to open your imagination. I learned alot from Full Sail. I have my mother to thank and God to praise." Leaving school in 2007, RJ was able to return home to his new born daughter Aamiyah Pompey. Today RJ and Tankai Recordings LLC have begun to make a statement in the underground hip hop scene of Jacksonville, Florida. Hooking up with the newest rap sensation, Mr. T, Tanaki has seen more success than ever, and as RJ prodicts, much more to come. " Mr. T came and put his style on it, and made it his own. He wasnt scared to do what the other guys are scared to do. And that really made my music more acceptable to the trends that are going on right now." explains RJ in a 2008 interview with Focus TV. "Im just looking forward, to giving alot of different music to alot of different artist. I promise, if you let me put my colors on it, and you do your thing on it, its gone be all love. And the people will definitly know the difference. As well, it will be the one of those tracks, the girls will repeat over and over again. Tanaki baby!"
