About Me

Dan has been an indie artist since 1984, having performed at events small and large. In 1987, Dan started writing songs. His songwriting complimented his vocal skills nicely. Dan's artistry has been recognized by all who have seen and heard him live. Though Dan has released several cassette albums, they are all out of print. None of the released works were on store shelves, and were only available at live events. From 1996 to 2006, Dan took a needed hiatus and is now working on a new project titled "Hopeful Journey". March 2007 marked a new milestone for Dan, as he was signed by BMI, and is currently anticipating joining Stonehill Productions.Dan Hensley and Randy Stonehill have been friends for over 10 years. Ray Ware and Dan have been working together from a distance for about as many years. Ray and Randy have been instrumental in mentoring him along the way, even taking time to counsel Dan in his artistry. In a recent review, Ray Ware says:"Alpha Prayer" is the best of the bunch. It is confessional, makes it's case and resolves in a determination to specific action by the end of the first verse. It is understandable and it comes closest to conveying in the mind of the listener the emotion that you as the writer hopes to convey. I can identify with the song. And that is a sign you are on the right path."At a rare performance in 2004, an event attendee was seen stating to Dan "You really came around at the exact right time. I have been feeling so much, and your songs spoke something to me that confirmed very important things to me"Over the years, comments like this became the norm for Dan. Comments from the clarity and beauty of voice to raves regarding Dan's mastery of lyric in the realities of everyday life applied to songwriting and performance were never a rare occurrence. So, where did Dan pick up his talent? "The vocals were always there, but I had to learn to write although I had a love for it. I wanted to be real and yet convey hope in life without being too serious all the time." Dan was instructed in vocals and songwriting by well known Christian music artist, Lisa Weyerhauser. http://www.talkwithlisa.comAlong the way, he had instruction from local artist Beth Olson, and international recording artist, Lee Baron. "Lee taught me the start of guitar, and taught me organ which was the perfect gift to have had." "I never got to continue with guitar or organ, but continued to sing and write. What it did do for me was allow me to have an outlet for where my heart was, to convey my world view without compromising what is true."Other budding relationships include "The Least Of These", a well known band from Judson College in Elgin, Illinois. Dan, and vocalist / lead guitarist, Ben Calhoun were introduced to each other through Randy Stonehill in March of 2007.Dan's vision is not for fame, but to use his gift for improving the lives of as many as possible by building a connection with listeners that is sincere as opposed to smoke and mirrors. Humor? yeah....he's got a sense of humor and is known to make people laugh so hard they cry. In his humor, Dan can be so far out that it's funny, or so real that the laughter comes from the heart. The combination of candid song and original humor make for an unforgettable evening that touches, brings connection, fellowship, and inspiration that lasts far afterwards.Discography:1987: Dan Hensley (Favorite covers by Amy Grant, Michael W. Dan wowed his High School through the nineties gaining their fanfare and that of the staff who stated that they "took the songs with them, and couldn't get them out of their head." The late 80's and early to mid nineties brought Dan's music and unique ministry to select venues locally and in places such as Colorado, Wyoming, Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, and Tennessee. At one venue, Dan had to stay behind for up to three hours to meet and greet, signing autographs.During the writing process for Hopeful Journey, Dan has also begun tinkering with other inspiration that is producing material for future projects. Two more projects are planned in succession to Hopeful Journey.
