Cinemas Twin is a revolving door of many musicians. It was formed in the late 90’s by drummer Ken Glynn for improv performances with multiple film and slide projectors creating a collage on screen and musicians. The idea was to juxtapose costumes, improvised world fusion a la Bitches Brew, two film projectors and entymology slides with insects in and out of focus over the motion pictures. We performed at a number of art festivals and student events.
In 2001, Ken was producing a documentary and needed some studio tracks. We assembled friends and scheduled Jeff Arntsen’s studio for the evening of Tuesday September 11th 2001. When the second plane hit the towers, our minds were on everything but music. As the day played out, we all decided to go ahead with the session. These recordings are the result, recorded on the evening of 9.11.01
