Chantal Blanchard

My career began in my hometown in the Maritimes were I experienced all kinds of music styles. I first hit the road with a progressive-folk-rock band TRANS AKADI with which I had the pleasure to tour in the Maritimes, Quebec, Ontrario, in France and Belgium. We also received awards for Rock Band of the year and Rock Album of the year at Le Gala des Eloizes 1999, in Moncton New-Brunswick, with our original album La langue des rebelles. After finishing my degree in classical singing at Moncton University, I joined a female barbershop quartet LES MUSES with whom I traveled some more and furthered my experimentation of original vocal varieties.Based in Montreal since 2002, I joined the cast of the musical review Cinémashow, where I starred in two leading roles. I sang the classics from Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland and Julie Andrews, as well as the strong and sensual repertoire from Chicago, Moulin Rouge and the James Bonds series. Mixing dance, acting and singing, I performed at the Hull Casino, the Montreal Casino, and also toured in the U.S at the Warner Theater in Washington D.C, at the beautiful Fox Theater in Detroit, at the Chrysler Hall in Norfolk and in Richmond, Va.In 2005, I joined the beautiful Cirque du Soleil production Saltimbanco as the half priestess half bird lead singer. I had the wonderful experience of traveling through South-America and Mexico visiting Mexico City, Guadalajara, Santiago, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. This year again, we’ll be back on the road in a Canadian and American arena tour. Gathering my traveling and musical encounters, I write little poetic French songs that I take great pleasure sharing with you.
