“Cumako's” long awaited, highly anticipated first album, “No Borders” is NOW AVAILABLE. We had our CD release party at Broken City on April 10, and 11. It was a HUGE SUCCESS!!! Thank you to everybody who came and supported this with us, WE LOVE YOU ALL!!! Also a very special thank you to CKUA, CBC, CJSW, and 94.7 El Reventon for all of your help, support, and the priceless exposure you continuously allow us to your listening audiences.
THANK YOU!!!
"No Borders" has been a great experience for all of us in Cumako. It has brought us together as friends and fellow musicians. We have captured this beautiful essence in all of the recordings. It is truly recorded through the work of love, and we are very happy to finally be able to share this experience with you. We were extremely fortunate to have had some very special guest artists record on this album such as " Oscar Lopez ", Juno Award Winner for “Best Instrumental Album” in 2000 for his album “Armando’s Fire. “Israel ‘Toto’ Barriel”, Juno Award Winner as well as being nominated in 2003 for a Latino Grammy Award with “Los Munequitos de Matanzas”. Kristian Alexandrov , one of Canada's most in-demand composers, performers, arrangers and producers.

Cumako explores different musical elements by blending rhythmical grooves into new compositions. Our style of music expands many musical influences from Africa to the Americas. It has no limits yet captures the heart and soul of each individual musician. Our intensely energetic rhythm section from Venezuela and Canada combined with our powerful creative horn section from Mexico, Japan and Bolivia unite to produce a free spirited sound. Cumako were serendipitously brought together in 2007 and recorded their debut album “No Borders”.Cumako’s diverse sound is perfectly suited for dance parties as well as the educated listener.
A Calgary-based band, Cumako consists of some of Calgary’s most talented professional musicians. Collectively and individually they have performed at numerous music festivals, concert halls, and clubs in Canada and overseas.
See You Soon!!!
