About Me
Christian Martin hails originally from Nuremberg in Germany. He is living the last eight years in Ireland and is currently studying Music, Management and Sound at Colaiste Stiofain Naofa in Cork.
Violin:
Classically trained from the age of six he developed a diversity of styles in his playing from jazz/blues, folk to rock and funk.
He was playing classical violin with various orchestras in venues like Leipziger Gewandhaus, Frankfurt Opera House.
For the last twelve years he was playing in various bands in Germany and Ireland (e.g. Peacocks Feather, Shebeen Connection, Celtic Fusion, Pier 19, SanFran, Mrs. Cat etc.). His diverse musical activities lead him on tours throughout Europe.
Currently he is playing with the “Locus String Quartet†(check out www.locusentertainment.com), the scandinavian/irish trad. band â€Silta†(check out www.myspace.com/siltamusic) and â€Uncle Johns Band†beside other projects (check out Diarmuid O'Learys website www.myspace.com/dolsmusic and the song: A Ladder to the stars).
Singing :
Since 1990 he sang with different ensembles in Germany including “Frankfurter Singakademieâ€, “Darmstaedter Vocalensemble†and has toured extensively troughout europe and has recorded several CD’s.
After he moved to Ireland 1999 he sang with “Cois Cladaighâ€, “Cantando Galvia†and “Galway Baroque Singersâ€.
Since 2002 he is living in Cork and he was singing with “Madrigal 75â€, “Cork Opera 2005†(Mozart - Figaros Wedding, Bizet - Carmen in 2005, Rossini – Barber of Seville in 2006, Mozart - Don Giovanni in 2007, Verdi - Un Mallo In Maschera in 2008), with â€Castleward Opera, Belfast†(Mozart – The Magic Flute, Bizet – Carmen in 2005, Balfe – The Bohemian Girl, Puccini – La Boheme (Parpigniol) in 2006) and with Cantus Choralis.
Currently he is singing with â€St. Mary’s College of Clerks Choral, Youghal†(check out www.youghal.cork.anglican.org/clerks).
He studied with Anneliese Puchner in Nuernberg and Robert Craig at Cork School of Music.
