"Wrestling prepares a person to fight the game of life. The wrestler is the one athlete that must meet his opponent and do battle completely on his own. No one can substitute. No time outs are possible. He has no one to check, screen, block, or assist him in any way; there is no one to blame for his mistakes. When he wins, he must show quiet pride and modesty. When he loses, the responsibility is his. Wrestling is a true sport. In other sports, when contact is made, they blow the whistle to stop the action; in wrestling, when contact is made, we're just getting started. No other sport requires more sacrifice than wrestling. The individual, through self-denial, offers more of his character than ever could be explained here. It is something he carries with him throughout life, and through every trial, test, and tribulation."

ATHLETES
People don't play sports because it's fun. Ask any athlete, most of them hate it, but they couldnt imagine their life without it. Its part of them, the Hate/Love relationship. It's what they live for. They live for the practices, parties, cheers, long bus rides, countless pairs of different types of shoes, water, Gatorade, and coaches they hate but appreciate. If you're doing something for a sport when the sun comes up and when the sun goes down...it's not just a game, it is a way of life. They live for the way it feels when they beat the team next to them in overtime, and they know those two extra reps they ran in practice were worth it. They live for the way you become a family with your team, they live for the countless songs they sing in their head when they're running ALL those forty-fours. They live for the competition, they live for the friends, the practices, the memories, the pain, it's who they are. It's who we are. WE ARE ATHLETES!!
