Markus Allen Hoppus
was born March 15th, 1972 in Ridgecrest, California. Mark is the oldest & only son born to Tex & Kerry Hoppus.
Mark's parents divorced when he was 14 and Mark moved with his dad to Monteray, California while sister Anne and his mom remained in Ridgecrest.
After moving to San Diego while attending Poway High School, Mark met Thomas DeLonge through his younger sister Anne. She had heard him talking about starting a band and knew Tom had the same goal in mind, so she introduced them.
Upton their first meeting at a local skate park Mark, wanting to impress DeLonge, climbed a lamp post, jumped off and cracked both ankles & heels and was on crutches for three weeks. Tom said that his mom, Collie, & him still get a laugh from the story.
After the huge universal success both among millions of fans and the media, blink-182 went on "indefinite hiatus" in February 2005. Amongst silence and confusion, Hoppus released "No, It Isn't" on DeLonge's December 13 th 2006 birthday.
Please understand, this isn't just goodbye.
This is I can't stand you.
Mark is quoted as naming the song No It Isn't because everytime anyone asks if the song is directed at DeLonge, the answer is, 'no, it isn't'.
After the success of No It Isn't only being released on the internet, Plus-44 recruited friends Shane Gallagher & Craig Fairbaugh to join the band. Although former band member & vocalist Carol Heller left the band to start a family with her husband, she can be heard singing background vocals on songs such as "No, It Isn't" (original release), "Make You Smile" & "Weatherman". Craig Fairbaugh can also be heard as a background vocalist on almost every album listed song and while preforming live.
Personal Life:
Mark originally wanted to become a High School English teacher, he says he loves to read. Obviously his love for playing bass and writing music & lyrics was stronger.
Mark met his girlfriend, Skye Lee Everly, in 2000 and they married on December 2, 2002. Their son, Jack Hoppus, was born on August 5, 2003. Mark own two dogs Ahi, the white beagle and Atticus.
Hoppus currently resides in Carmel Mountain Ranch, CA living in the home that he recorded Plus-44's "When Your Heart Stops Beating".
Instruments:
At the age of 15, Mark got his first bass as a gift from his father and earned money for a bass amp by helping him paint his house. Mark never took bass lessons, instead he taught himself by listening to bands such as the Descendants, The Cure and Bad Religion.
Mark has been a known user of Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray basses from the "Cheshire Cat" to early "Enema of the State" era. Disliking the sound of those basses, he started to use Fender Precision Basses during the middle of the "Enema of the State" era, having had one early custom bass guitar made for him. The first custom Fender creation consisted of a lake placid blue Precision bass body and neck with a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound bass pickup and one volume knob.
Mark's first true signature bass was the metallic red bass guitar featured in the music video "Adam's Song", made by Fender Custom Shop's Alex Perez which consisted of a Fender Jazz bass body with a Precision bass neck, Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound bass pickups and a single volume knob.
Mark has been seen sporting this signature bass in a variety of different colors since then. Recently, Mark's signature under went a slight modification. The bodies are now made of Ash instead of Alder to make the bass lighter. The pickup locations were switched. The pickup that was placed under the E and A strings was also placed under the D and G strings and moved above the original position, placed higher than the pickup under the E and A strings, giving a warmer thicker bass sound. Also, the color has changed from, most notably, blue, green and pink w/ white pearloid pickguard, to a see through honey color w/brown pearloid pickguard. Besides his signature basses, Mark was seen using one other bass guitar live on stage: the Fender Bass VI, most notably for the song "I Miss You" with blink-182.
For live sound during the Enema of the State and Take Off Your Pants and Jacket era, Mark's basses plugged into two Ampeg SVT-Pro4 amp heads which ran into two Ampeg 8x10 bass cabs. His more recent setup includes running his basses into three Ampeg SVT-Classic amp heads running into two Ampeg 8x10 cabs.

About the owner:
The owenr is this fan page's #1. I created this fan page because I love Mark Hoppus and have no life. I own 3 other fan pages (The AVA Movement, Team Willard & Team Kennedy). I did not create this fan page to spite others. I am NOT Mark Hoppus (obv., I mean how lame if he created his own fan page for himself), related to Mark Hoppus (seriously, if I was I'd brag about it day & night, ppl!) and I have no direct contact with Mark, Travis or any band mates he has played with, previous & present (as much as I wish I lived in Mark's backyard, I don't)
