About Me

I have a passion for building lasting and fulfilling relationships with people, making a difference in this world anyway I can, being the best person I can be, and experiencing life to its fullest. I am a recent college graduate. My B.A. was in history, which I am very passionate about, but I have recently decided to change my career direction. I hope to earn at least an M.A. in English, focusing particularly on composition, the instruction of composition, ESL, and multicultural literature. I've discovered, through tutoring and teaching, that I absolutely love teaching writing and have a passion for helping others help themselves through literacy and education. I hold the belief that active education and awareness are the keys to bettering the world. I believe all people should take an active interest in this world (including the dreaded topics of politics, religion, and social issues) and move beyond the superficial, the mundane, and the apathetic (which is all too common in American society and culture) and help better our world and themselves. However, don't get me wrong - I love having goofy fun with friends too! I am also a performer at heart. I've been involved in music - singing and playing the piano and clarinet - since a young age and, to a lesser extent, theatre, particularly music theatre. I love culture of all kinds, including (to an extent) pop culture, and one of my greatest loves is TRAVELING! I love to see what I can of the world, whether it's my own hometown or locales on the other side of the globe. In college, I had the fantastic opportunity to study abroad in Northern Ireland and travel all around Europe, which was an amazing experience that completely broadened my perspectives. I have a strong appreciation for diversity - which I probably get from living in California (which I love) and from being of Hawaiian heritage. And lastly, and perhaps most importantly, I love meeting new people (though not necessarily online) and cultivating new and old friendships.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
