About Me

In April 2007, Legion of Plague got serious about making music. Going by the name No Method to Madness at the time, LOP was a young band looking for the right sound. After a few months, and a few singers, LOP became a three man band, but it wasn't much of a problem, just an inconvenience. In July 2007, LOP played a small backyard show, and Jimmy Layne came up to the mic, and sang one of our cover songs, or at least tried to (he thought he knew how the song went, but he was wrong). He wasn't the best, but we jumped on the idea of having a front man again, so we asked Jimmy to come to practice the next day, to try out. The recruiting of Jimmy Layne was the turning point for LOP. His influences began to leak into our sound, and we went down a darker path then previously planned. We began writing faster music, utilizing double picking, and double bass much more then before. A month after the lineup change, LOP played a battle of the bands in Ukiah California, and third place boosted our confidence and gave us a new appreciation for our band. About a month after the show, we recorded our first demo in Laughing Coyote Studios. We played a few shows over the next year or so, and wrote a lot of new music. We entered another battle of the bands in August 2008, and again we took third place, and won studio time at Russian River Records, but before we went back to the studio, we found a rhythm guitarist, and after just a few short weeks of rehearsal with a new member, we recorded our second demo, and changed our name to what it is now, LEGION OF PLAGUE. A few short months after recording the second demo LOP ordered LEGION OF PLAGUE tee shirts, and headlined a show in Willits, drawing in a crowd of about 250 metal heads. Our biggest show so far, but not for long.
