Lilian Borunda is a young pop vocalist with natural energetic style and an advanced vocal mastery. Although always sung with seemingly effortless grace, Lilian’s songs showcase her astounding vocal technique and powerful range. Her voice has been compared to artists such as Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey, however she brings a new, young, trendy, and truthful flavor to the pop/hip hop/r & b world of music.
She has been performing on stage since her first dance recital at the age of 3. It wasn’t until the ripe young age of 4 years old that she found her true passion in singing and hasn’t shut up since. She is a born performer, period! There simply was and never will be another option. Sometimes you just have to accept that things just are as they are. Thankfully, her wonderful family understood this and were supportive as her performing took her throughout the United States and abroad.
Originally trained as a classical singer, she transitioned into commercial and pop music in her early teen years and realized that she had a strong preference towards the pop genre. She was accepted to and awarded a talent-based scholarship from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. At the conservatory she was able to further her musical skills and take in the college experience, while remaining on the Dean’s List. She is now on sabbatical focusing on her songwriting and recording career.
Lilian’s honest lyrics in “Unworthy†and “One Night Love Affair†are especially hitting a chord among young women. They are a true reflection of the experiences and issues that women are dealing with as they grow and find their sense of self. In “One Night Love Affairâ€, Lilian conveys the strength, independence and control that young women possess while embracing youth and having fun. Whereas, in the heartfelt lyrics of “Unworthyâ€, a woman’s vulnerable and serious sides are revealed. [Both songs were produced by Andy Marvel, who has Jessica Simpson and Celine Dion among his artist client roster.]
Lilian also attributes her strong cultural upbringing as a source of her musical inspiration. Of Mexican-American/Native-American descent, Lilian grew up in Northern California surrounded by rich culture. She hopes to be a role model for girls in America by representing pride in her unique heritage while also relating to other young women dealing with the same issues of growing up and self- identity. Exploring her Latin roots, she collaborated with Artist/Producer Paco on “Canta Conmigo†which she sung entirely in Spanish. This energetic Latin Urban/Reggaeton/Pop song gets you on your feet and moving even if you don’t speak a word of Spanish.
