This just in: Eyesight Project has just been chosen as one of 2 independent acts hand picked by the Amoeba Music staff for September!!!! Fuckin' rockin!!!
Chance meetings and circles of friends in Los Angeles brought musicians from backgrounds as diverse as Mexico, Germany, Trinidad, and Israel together. Eyesight Project has grown into a collective of musicians based around the production duo of Jesse Rogg and Julian Brody, who compose and arrange the tracks in collaboration with Rastafarian MC and vocalist Jah Faith, with help of course from other musicians drawn from the local and international talent pool.
Both Julian and Jesse are rooted in a background of electronic music production; for many years, before moving to Los Angeles, Julian held a residency at Mexico Citys premier electronic music venue, Bar Colmillo, showcasing his own projects such as xl-er and Th Herbal, or the experimental electronic jam collective, Wako Texas, while simultaneously collaborating with current Modus Vivendi labelmates BN Loco on their upcoming release, Echo en Mexico, among many others. Jesse has a strong background in production and engineering with degrees in the latter and years of studio experience. Having worked with Grammy award winning artists and producers, he is also co-founder of Modus Vivendi, the present home of Eyesight Project.
The duos tastes have shown an inclination towards downtempo and nu-jazz, but not excluding minimal house or electro. They also share a strong appreciation for traditional genres of soul, roots reggae, and dub, which sometimes merges with Julians proclivity towards the cumbias and boleros of his native Mexico.
The production duo were introduced to Dub Club via co-founder of Modus Vivendi and executive producer of the Eyesight Project Annie Walton-Teter. The Dub Club is held at The Echo, a deep and soulful night run by DJ-Mixer-Producer Tom Chasteen with resident vocals of Jah Faith. The idea of recording Jah Faith within the context of a free-form, sample based project was soon to follow. A meeting of minds, music and ideas ensued, leading to the first studio sessions, recorded at fabled Cherokee Studios in Hollywood, in September of 2004.
The result is Eyesight Projects Sistema Acstico, a four track EP, which has been described as Future dub from the Modus brand which makes you wanna shake that thang but also is lyrically thought provoking... (streetforward.com) and as a lush, laid-back, dub-infused journey through deep bass, easy horns, and echoey, ragga vocals, delivered in a perfect blend of loops and lazy moods (properlychilled.com).
Eyesight Project are currently both playing live, and recording, mixing and expanding their sense of multicultural aesthetics at their own Sycamore Lab in Hollywood.

Reviews:
"Captivating, innovated, and progressive are just a few words to describe the mood of Eyesight Project. The collection of songs in this E.P is overwhelming with the sounds of reggae, trance, hip hop, jazz into one genre. The spirit of this group of musician will impact the way music is made and sound. The most remarkable feature of this E.P is the different use of instrument to create clever beats and lyrics. Believe me, this E.P. is non stop rotation on my mp3 music player."

This CD is perfect for when you wanna be in the zone, whether you wanna dance, relax, make sweet love, bitter love, in-between love or just get plain irie. Seriously, the sound on this disc is smoother than Black Velvet on ice. This CD is fucking awesome and I can't wait for a full LP to come out! One of the few EP's I can put on endless repeat and feel good about it.

From vocals, loops echoes and synth touches, to percussion and super-thick basslines, every element is poured on in perfect measure.
