About Me

Blame Charlie Parker, blame "Bird" for my obsession with music. At the age of 3 yrs. I became a musician. I started Sax lessons at the age of five, enthralled with my father's trumpet playing. It served me well and in no time I started to sound like a sax player. At the age of 10, for some reason the piano struck me as an instrument I could play. I was in marching bands, jazz and stage bands in high school, learned a lot from my music teacher, "Pug" Pulicher. He taught me the value of a having a beautiful tone on an instrument. He said, "It's not what you play, it's how you sound WHEN you play". Continually I kept learning from my father, Robert Goodloe, who told me "It's all about the melody". The melody contains everything, chords, progressions, etc..I became a professional musician at the age of 15 years old. I had my first gig with my cousin's band playing "Jimi Hendrix" covers. Even though that wasn't jazz, it gave me my first exposure with an audience.During the course of my career thus far, I've gained experience playing in many types of bands, a continual ongoing process to this day.I'm a very versatile musician. I cut a cross many genres, R/B, jazz, gospel, salsa etc. but my heart is in jazz music. It's the root of my being. It informs everything I play.
